What solidifies my belief in Christ is how many people disrespect and how far people are willing to go with it. Like why does a man of that stature upset your spirit that much?

In the wake of unimaginable pain and sorrow, three words have echoed through the centuries: "It is finished." We are quick to theologize & personalize the meaning of the words. But the simple words lose their intensity when we divorce them from the unimaginable evil in the world. When Jesus declared "it is finished," he meant the worst possible things, too. The searing, decisive truth is that Jesus' death and resurrection defeated it all. The worst that we can imagine, and worse still. We frantically personalize Jesus' death "for me" and in doing so fail to properly corporatize it. We minimize the sacrifice on our behalf while failing to grasp the vast dimensions of it. It is finished for our sin, of course. But what is finished is also the most unimaginable evil that hell could unleash--up to and including the death of the innocent. Jesus--who knew no sin--took the weight of the world's sin upon himself. He became sin so that sinners may become right with God. Hell hurled salvo after salvo at Jesus, up to and including its final boss, death, and Jesus emerged victorious. The innocent died so that the guilty could live. So "it is finished" means the prophecies had been fulfilled in Jesus, yes. And "it is finished," means that the judgment for sin was completed, yes. But, critically, "it is finished" also means that death no longer has the final word. Jesus destroyed the final enemy. Death has been swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? The promise of "it is finished" is not no more pain or difficulty or hardship. It is the promise of victory through Christ's defeat of death. Let it echo through the centuries.

The bravest man doesn’t just charge the ramparts of the castle He does it with a grin The cutting edge of bravery is indistinguishable from insanity But then again, bravery is the most unnatural and paradoxical of states
