Abdullah Ocalan says he spent the night until dawn to remembering Salih Muslim. In his letter, this is how he describes Salih Muslim: "Salih Muslim was a true patriot of the lands of Syria. He knew how to be a full Kurdish with Kurds; an indispensable friend with Arabs; a true brother with Turks. With Assyrians, Armenians, Circassians – every people, religion, and sect – he made establishing a complete humanistic familiarity an inseparable part of his life. He was a cornerstone of Rojava that I always trusted, and he will always remain so. I see him as the twin brother of Sırrı Süreyya, whom we lost in the Peace and Democratic Society Process. On this basis, he will remain the undying star of both our struggle and our peace."

This is quite promising. There is no better ways than all peoples of Syria to work together for a future that is democratic, or at least a future that celebrates diversity, for now.

No one will ever break the Kurdish people They can try for years, for a century, but the resolve is admirable

I'm not a research institute but I would guess that around 95% of information online about Kurds in Iran is fuelled by it's enemies and contains lies, psychological warfare, misinformation & rampant hatred against Kurds.

To all the ignorant commentators who spread the lie about 'Kurds invading Iran and 'carving out' Iranian soil for themselves. How can Kurds who number some 10 million in *Iran invade their own country? If the Kurdish people are indeed Iranian, how can they invade their own country? *Of course the Kurds in 'Iran' see themselves as living in Rojhelat (Eastern Kurdistan)

The Kurds said no to the Islamic Republic right from the beginning. Instead of submitting to the theocratic regime, they opted for resistance and attempted to build council-based self-rule across Rojhelat. Their attempt to actualize their demand for democracy, however, was met with hostility from the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI). From March 1979 to the early 1980s, the Kurds were subjected to major attacks, mass executions, and bombardment. At the beginning, there was some solidarity from Persian leftists toward the Kurdish demand for self-rule; yet this solidarity was forged on fragile ground and soon fragmented as Khomeini’s anti-imperialism consolidated through the hostage crisis and the Iran–Iraq War.
