one of my favorite things Germans do is say things a tiny bit wrong in English. like when they translate directly but it doesn’t quite make sense. it’s so cute. it’s like when a toddler mispronounces a word and you don’t want to correct them bc then it’s gone forever.

It's much easier if I focus on being patient, more loving, more giving in whatever way I can than to force myself to think about Christ 24/7, or examen every fault, or listen to gregorian chants or read the saints. And mind you, I spent a year literally doing only that.

if i'm being honest for a moment... I'm fine if I just pray, do my daily catholic thing, and focus on practicing virtue, but if I just sit to think of the faith or truly indulge in it I feel so incredibly depressed. Scrupulosity ruined everything for me. I just dc anymore.

Since the new testament is hidden in the old... here is a verse that is a shadow of the things that were to come:
“And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter… And he cried unto the Lord; and the Lord showed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet.”
— Exodus 15:23–25
That symbolism connects beautifully with St. Ambrose’s teaching that Christ sanctified the waters through His baptism.
