Business owners become the target of frivolous lawsuits.
I challenge you to find a worse example than this:
My father owns a construction company in Roanoke VA.
Employees wear uniforms. They bundle them up and throw them in a storage area under the stairs each week.
The uniform service comes by and exchanges them for a freshly washed set.
An employee grabbed the wrong bundle. The pants fit too tightly (he claims) and caused a testicular torsion. In other words he forced on too tight pants and hurt his nuts.
He sued for physical and emotional distress and an inability to work.
My father’s insurance company settled with him.
These are the joys of business ownership in America.
PS: We desperately need tort reform
PPS: if your pants are too tight, don’t put them on.
PPPS: also don’t wear polyester underwear

@eevblog My 20 yo microwave annoys me because after a power bump I can't use it until I set the time and date. Why compound that stupidity by a factor of 1000 with internet connected appliances?

Do not buy this shit. Stop it. Everyone, just stop it.

I can’t go out with you tonight, I have to update my toaster.

@nibsakat Using magnets to hold the blade is smart.

@RepRileyMoore @SenEricSchmitt We DO NOT need more federal holidays!!
English

There's no federal holiday for Easter — the most important day in the Christian faith.
@SenEricSchmitt and I think that should change. We’ve introduced a bill to make Easter Monday a federal holiday.
Here's why. 🧵

English

@epaleezeldin Keep in mind this was brought about by LAWYERS in the first place. Look up what happened to Blitz USA thanks. They got sued into oblivion; even though they never lost a lawsuit all the bogus lawsuits bankrupt them. If you want to help hold lawyers liable for bogus lawsuits.

What started as an effort many years ago to child-proof gas cans turned into an adult-proofing model for millions of Americans who feel that these cans are virtually impossible to use.
The first step (BETTER VENTING): The Trump EPA clarified to manufacturers last summer that gas cans can have self-closing vents that restore smoother fuel flow.
The next, bigger step (NOZZLE DESIGN): To have the Consumer Product Safety Commission fix the ABSURDLY designed nozzle, Congress will need to pass legislation to change federal law.
It shouldn’t take 3 hands and 5 minutes to pour gas out of a gas can!

In this video we take a look at a ‘RARE’ 1970s console/computer the ‘Video Brain’. An interesting machine that used programs on carts, has a keyboard, uses a Fairchild F8 processor and has custom chips for graphics and sound. Let’s see if we can fix it.

@gk130409 I am not a fan of tattoos, most look like a child who drew on themselves with an ink pen.

日本では、刺青は反社会的だと見られ、

Be honest… are women without tattoos still attractive to men nowadays?

@chirno_helmet Threads used on plumbing are worse. They came in straight or tapered NPT (American), British Standard (Whitworth), metric, and a WWII area metric thread the Germans used.

@SandyofCthulhu Be careful what you ask for. Some state also have 'personal property tax'. You get the privilege of paying a tax on vehicles, livestock, etc. over and over again every year. So taxed on earning $, buying, and keeping...and dying.
English

But why is it on your house? Why not tax your washing machine. Or your carpet? Or the black velvet paintings handing on your walls? It's completely arbitrary, and seems unfair, particularly because we are ALREADY HEAVILY TAXED for those damn public services.
Rushi@rushicrypto
I’m very confused about the number of people who think “property tax” is a sales tax on you home rather than taxes to pay for public services you use every day. “I paid off my home why do i still pay property taxes?!?!?” Oh, did you also stop using the roads and libraries and sidewalks and parks? Not worried about fires anymore?

In this video we show how to install the CE-1500T ‘Turbo’ board in a TRS-80 PC-2 (harp PC-1500/A. Color coded maps of PCB connection points are provided. Installation is invasive but reversible and should only be attempted at your own risk.

@kyuumaruTK My dad landed in Japan early October 1945 after 2 years in Pacific Theater. When I was young I asked what he thought of the Japanese. He said, "They are pretty much like you and me. We may not like what someone did, or what they were led to do, but we should never hate anyone."
English

@26ers_bp115 "Do Americans think this is cultural appropriation?"
Normal Americans do not. (Normal humans do not.)
We all imitate things we like and add a bit of ourselves to it. I have heard Chinese bluegrass played using some traditional Chinese instruments and think its great.
