@katievscancer @ThanksCancer Tracy. I have stage 4 breast cancer w metastasis to the brain. Been dealing w this since 2005. I have stopped active treatment and am in palliative/hospice care now. I am a mom and it breaks my heart that I’m leaving my children soon. Grateful I had a good life.

Having stage 4 cancer that is responsive to treatment is like taking the scenic route to the guillotine. The scenery kinda sucks but it is better than nothing and you don’t know how long the ride is.

@ThanksCancer @ShawnMGibson1 Brain mets after 19 years…and the palliative care, slowly dying, leaving my kids. It’s a slow moving nightmare.

@emtrrt_cat I spent everything: I’m dying anyway. It was worth it until it came back. After 2 yrs as stage IV I’m broke, not able the live near my kids and have weeks to months to live. Nothing to leave them. No QOL. Worth it if you can afford it. Worth it if not so age 4.

This. Is it worth it??? I’m having some serious thoughts…

@islandlove13 @ThanksCancer I’ve had over 100 infusions w/o a port, had 6 with a port. Much prefer being port-less.

BC — I will be receiving 4 sessions of chemo in a few weeks. I need help - my oncologist said that I don’t need a port because it’ll only be 4 times and I have good veins. I’m afraid my vein will be damaged - he said no. Any feedback - I’m scared. @ThanksCancer #breastcancer

@marklewismd Why I left my kids 🧒 in USA and went back to Canada for end-of-life care….its not easy in Canada but its not ridiculously impossible like the U.S. I miss my kids but I’m get care …for FREE.

As I stand here with a fax in hand that denies one of my patients on chemo an antinausea drug which could get them through the American holiday weekend more tolerably & humanely, I realize that South Park is now a documentary:

I got the red devil Friday. I don’t remember Saturday. I still feel like I got hit by a truck. Is this normal??

@ThanksCancer Had breast cancer 3 times - 2 of them AFTER dble mastectomies. Found lumps each time. 3rd one had spread to lungs and then brain.

What symptom made you go see the doctor? For me, it was an injury from a bike crash, so unrelated. reddit.com/r/AskReddit/co…

The anguish of wondering if your symptoms are just side effects of treatment, progression of the disease, or, well the beginning of the end... The mind hurt is often worse than the body hurt. #cancersucks

@wints9er I have these same thoughts everyday…with brain mets and symptoms it’s hard to not think about…my poor kids. ☹️

Haven't spent much time lately thinking about dying, and more importantly, the fallout on my wife and kids. It's in my head now and I'm struggling with it...hard.

@marklewismd As a stage iv, this is a way of life that I couldn’t accept it. Trading sick and bedridden for days on the calendar. It’s got to be worth it. It’s not for me.

This is how one of my patients described chemo cycles and oh my — it is one thing to know the pharmacology and to chart at a safe remove the nadir in blood counts, but it is entirely another to have the embodied experience of actually going through treatment’s ups & downs

@Lifeiskitsch I ask that all the time (stage iv breast cancer): what is it like when we are dying? and then answer myself: THIS is what it’s like…so far it’s just like living…

I actually stood on my own porch & screamed. Then “so how long do I have, doc?” & I’m sure my openness was a bit strange but, then it was, “what is it like when we’re dying?”

@atrupar I’m usually asleep before plane takes off. My wife? Wide awake the whole time.

Sleeping on flights is a superpower that I don’t have, regardless of how long the flight is. I’m amazed how easy some people make it look.
