I had "the face to face" talk with the ex, and I was ready for the emotional blackmail. I went from cordial, to defensive, to rational, to agreeable, and eventually to supportive while being completely in control of my tone and purpose. We have come to a short term agreement. Ended on an optimistic note, as we're both in the running for long term employment stability. She's got a shot at moving into management at work. I'm being trained in how to do the foreman side of the house at 4 months into the job. Her long term goal is to reduce support payments to zero through self promotion at work. My goal is to get back on my own feet without bleeding myself out for her. Somehow, both of these goals lined up without long term conflict. I showed her the light at the end of the tunnel, and the light is good. I have a trophy ex wife.
