Constantly moralizing individuals is something which is expressly condemned in various moral and pastoral theology manuals, on the basis of it simply not being efficacious (and more often than not worsening the issue). It’s also incredibly annoying.

The WM Review has had disagreements with the RCI and some of its members over the years. We've generally tried to keep it respectful – but others will be the judges of how well we've succeeded with that over the past couple of years. We still have some disagreements on some issues, and that isn't going to change. But Fr Hennick's involvement with the RCI seems like an opportunity to state, for the very little that it's worth: - We agree with many of the RCI's theological and practical positions, including on some topics where they diverge from other groups (with no disrespect intended to any other groups either). - We are grateful for the work of the RCI, its priests and its Superior General, Bishop Sanborn. - We wish them the best in this work. - We would prefer to be on good terms than bad terms. Who cares what we think about the above? No-one, of course – but given the disagreements, there it is. Best of luck to Fr Hennick in this new environment. S.D.Wr.

People bicker over whether to call this “third-worldism,” but you do see common propaganda threads here and elsewhere: the ideology is resentment-driven, civilization-skeptical, and obsessed with upending, cathartic violence enacted by the “historically downtrodden” (ie “wretched of the earth”).

“It is asked, secondly: whether it is any fault to look upon the ‘decent’ parts of a beautiful person of the opposite sex: …but in practice, I think this is rarely excused from venial sin, unless it is done out of due courtesy or another just cause.”

March 24th is the Traditional Feast of St. Simon of Trent. Simon, a 2 year old boy, was kidnapped during Easter in 1475, and was ritualistically m*rdered in an anti-Christian mockery of Good Friday. His feast was abolished in 1965; on the same day Nostra Aetate was promulgated. You can read the story of St. Simon in the Traditional Roman Martyrology here: ecatholic2000.com/butler/vol3/ma… St. Simon of Trent, Pray for us!
