MUST-WATCH VIDEO: Republican elected officials in Alabama are at it again. Our so-called conservative government continues to put the state government in control of the most important of our individual rights and liberties. This includes restrictions on women’s reproductive rights, the censorship of public libraries, the infringement on parental rights over their children’s healthcare, and now, a recent Alabama Supreme Court ruling that frozen embryos are children, which threatens to obliterate the hopes of countless individuals aspiring to parenthood through in vitro fertilization. This is not conservative, its far right activists. The unilateral decisions by Alabama’s Republican officials on these deeply personal matters are unacceptable and must be confronted. And we have the chance to do just that in an upcoming special election with my friend Marilyn Lands. @MarilynForAlabama, a steadfast advocate for women’s reproductive freedoms, is stepping up to challenge this continued overreach by running for the AL House District 10 seat, which she narrowly lost in 2022. The seat was vacated when her previous opponent was found guilty of voter fraud. Marilyn, who lost narrowly in 2022 by just over 600 votes, is a fierce critic of the Alabama legislature's restrictive anti-abortion policies, in part because of her own, very personal story. She recently unveiled a compelling video featuring her personal story and a similar story of a young Alabama couple. This courageous video highlights the real-world impact of these restrictive, legislative actions. This is our moment to stand up and make our voices heard in a pivotal special election.
