The regime's treatment of its own people is indefensible.
Trump invoking Iranian protesters to win an argument with the Pope is hard to take seriously from a president who acknowledged on camera that those same protesters "have no guns" and can't rise up because the regime threatens to shoot them, then continued bombing the country around them for six weeks anyway.
The protesters deserved better than being used as a talking point...
