I understand just seeme like it was extremely close proximity before it detonated. Im not as familiar with IR proximity but I believe rad proximity leads the aircraft so flys into a cloud of shrapnel. But I think its been confirmed. And Im ok with 8000+ sorties and one aircraft getting hit not even the downing of a 4th gen yet

@HimarsoClock @qmerty94729 @zhao_dashuai These are fragmentation warheads. They do not rely on a “direct hit.” People are thinking of a “hit-to-kill” or kinetic warhead, which this is *not*. That’s probably most of the confusion. The shrapnel causes varying degrees of damage.

No wonder why Iranian air defense was able to detect, track, lock-on and damage the F-35. Just look at the bumpy underbelly of the F-35, those little bumps are perfect radar reflectors. The F-35 being bloated (fat), also causes issues with cooling, making them more detectable by infrared sensors.

So we saved you ton off money on a nuclear program and maintenance not to mention you wouldn’t be able to come close to having parity with the usssr who had 48k nukes and their air defense vastly out numbered you the only possible protection was MAD not a few random nukes a country like russia could absorb and then internationally justify wiping you off the map. I’m cautious about this. There are reports a damaged f35 landed in the Middle East. However at this time CENTCOM has not stated that it was from enemy fire. A couple of red flags in the video. 1. No countermeasures deployed. 2. Video cuts almost immediately after “impact”. If Iran hit they would immediately publish the full video as proof. 3. Any pieces or parts that came off would be shared like wildfire on so I’ll media. 4. If you pay attention and the last frame shows the aircraft being cold post impact. Could be a lens issue as well. The thing doesn’t feel right overall.
