Medieval Europe had a similar hierarchical system as well. It even governed what clothes are allowed for each caste/class and who could eat at whose table. The only difference is that there was a wealth component to this hierarchy, but birth was still incredibly important in this hierarchy. In places like Poland it was entirely birth based for the knightly class.

It is highly likely that the Indian caste system has its roots in IVC and predates large scale Steppe migration. None of the other places the Aryans migrated to have (or had) a caste system, except Iran and India. But even in Iran it wasn't very robust due to low AASI.

Tamil Brahmins are highly genetically closer to the IVC population, much more than a Tamil low-caste. Tamil Brahmins are truer Dravidians; it is just that they also have higher steppe genes as they mixed with the Aryan population. Lower castes who claim Dravidian heritage as if Aryans oppressed them need to realise that it was probably Dravidians who oppressed them before that; in fact there is no pre-Dravidian language which is even left in South India.
