Inveterate democrat. No to 3 Fs: Feudalism, Fascism, Fanaticism. Deaf ear to trolls. News is sacred. Opinions strictly mine!

Today I saw a vegetable vendor using stones in a plastic bag to measure 250g, 500g, and 1kg instead of proper weights. When I spoke to him, I realized how easy our lives really are. Me: Why are you using stones to measure weight? Vendor: The municipality people took my weights because I was standing on the road. They asked me to pay ₹300. And if they take away my cart, then ₹3000. Me: Don’t you have a proper space to sell? Why do you stand illegally? Vendor: They say there is no space. All the markets are already full. They are telling us to do other work or work in a municipality job. Me: Then it is good if they give you a job in the municipality. What’s the issue? Vendor: They say the salary will be ₹10,000-₹12,000 for cleaning work. I have a wife and a small daughter. How can we live on ₹12,000? I was just speechless and had nothing to respond. I took this photo with his permission. No one really pays attention to the real struggles of people like him. These are people who cannot afford a shop and rent, so they sell vegetables on carts just to survive.

Breaking: Sweden says Israel should be isolated and expelled from international institutions

This morning I visited Jawahar Nagar, which is known as the largest slum area and also home to Ramky’s massive 350 acre dump yard in Hyderabad. The majority of families (close to 3 lakh population and 1.2 lakh children) living here are homeless or survive on daily wage labor. Just three years ago, there was no school at all for children in this cluster, that houses 4 lakhs. Today, a small school is educating 120+ incredibly talented but underprivileged children. I visited this school two years ago and strongly pushed for the Telangana Government to support it. Thankfully, the government responded by adopting the school and sanctioning a 4 acre land to build a compisite school from Nursery to 12th grades. Unfortunately, the land has now been encroached upon by socially affluent people in close contact with local political groups and elected politician, who have even filed a writ petition to block the construction of the sanctioned composite school from Nursery to 12th grades. The 100 slums in Jawaharnagar only have 8 govt primary schools, 2 govt high schools and 0 govt junior colleges in the whole of Kapra Mandal for 1.2 lakh children — This is 2.7% of the total children/student population in th State. This shall be the 9th govt school to be established. This is so deeply unfortunate. Education cannot be denied to poor children because of land greed and political interference. Hima Bindu and her team have conceived the idea of establishing a govt school in the Gabbilalpet slum cluster and shared that with proper infrastructure and facilities, the school could easily educate 5000+ children from marginalized communities. The Government must act quickly, clear the encroachment, and ensure that the high school construction begins without delay. For these children, this school is not just a building — it is their only pathway out of poverty and emancipation. #EducationMatters @Murali_IASretd @VenkatBalmoor @VenkatReddyMvf @v6velugu @thulasichandu1 @Bhatti_Mallu @i_himabindu

When a kid told Iran Supreme Leader Late Ali #Khamenei that he wants to get martyred, Ali Khamenai told him to study first, become a scientist , live your life and then when you turn old and frail, then die. Today, he refused to leave his home and hide while the US and Israel struck it and accepted death without fear. Bravery if its highest order, Rest in Peace.

Paying tribute to the memory of Ehsan Jafri on the anniversary of the Gulberg Society massacre. A former MP and a staunch voice for a secular India, his brutal martyrdom remains a chilling reminder of the 2002 Gujarat genocide and the horrific cost of communal hatred. We also honor the relentless struggle of Zakia Jafri, whose lifelong legal battle for justice against the architects of the genocide inspired every secular mind in this country. Their lives remain a powerful call to resist the politics of communal division and safeguard our democratic values. #EhsanJafri
