@Christi96463830 @luxurytax8 Have you tried massaging your incision with vitamin E oil (or something similar)? That can get it to loosen up and keep adhesions from forming.

@luxurytax8 I had hip replacement surgery 12/15 & having some issues with pain & healing. My incision is forming adhesions-muscle trying to attach to my bony butt! The worst pain!! I couldn’t walk when I got out of bed this AM. I can’t WAIT to take long walks with my dog!!

@teaseltail I agree that it was probably too much walking for you right now. Especially without the crutch. I understand wanting to be rid of it, but it's a tool to help you improve your gait. It's a good idea to continue using it until you can walk well without it.

@HipReplacement That was why I think 3 miles plus snd without my crutch was too much I hope I haven't done too much damage. I see a podiatrist on Wednesday

Had my second chemo of my 12th cycle last Wednesday of Gemcitabine and Abraxane the two tiny pancan mets have stayed stable but started to shrink in April. If stable in July my hip replacement can be done. I will be having a 9 week chemo break. Am I scared .. definitely

@teaseltail Oh! I must have misread that earlier. I'm so sorry. I thought it was 6 months.

@teaseltail Hamstring tightness also causes an error in your gait that creates painful repetitive stress injuries. It's not about walking too far; there are people who walk or run marathons after #HipReplacement. It's about walking with an incorrect gait. Physio can remedy that.

@teaseltail You previously mentioned difficulty with shoes. That indicates to me that you have tight hamstring muscles in the back of your thigh. This is very common after #HipReplacement. That tightness is reflected from the thigh, through your calf, and into your foot.

@teaseltail That may be another problem. If you're wearing old shoes, they will have wear patterns related to your gait prior to #HipReplacement. You may want to consider new shoes to support your new hip.

@HipReplacement No the hospital I had it done at . Said they do not advise physio just walking. I was walking very badly that time as if I was drunk. It was approx 3 miles overall. Too much I think as well as I am back on chemotherapy. Shoes were old ones as the only onesI could wear prior to op

@teaseltail Distance shouldn't be a problem, if you are walking with a good gait. If there is an error in your gait, that can cause strain in your feet, ankles, and knees. Have you had any physio at all?

@HipReplacement It started when I walked too far to the shops, mostly uphill and no crutch for support first time.. I struggled too far & unsupportive shoes . Hospital had had said walk as much as possible . No guidance on how far

@teaseltail There are stretches you can do to help your foot. You may also benefit from gait training so that plantar fasciitis doesn't become a chronic problem for you.

@HipReplacement Could this new pain in my foot nr because I have been walking too far .Even When I struggled a bit I forced myself to carry on. I am fearful I've done some damage to the tendon in my foot ( the foot on my hip replacement side)

@HipReplacement Yes if you can send me some info. My hip replacement went well snd I had no pain after six weeks. I still cannot easily put socks or shoes on my foot on the hip replacement side . But I've suddenly got pain the last few days on the inside of my foot and underneath the heel.

So my second @HipReplacement scheduled for tomorrow was kind of canceled last week. Was told to continue with pre op appointments just in case. Well low and behold when I called today to see if I was on the schedule they told me to be there at 6:15. I’ll be glad when it’s over.

Added some new layers to my barn lift. @HipReplacement for second hip got canceled. Was supposed to do both and the same time but that got canceled the day before. Now here I am with one leg an inch shorter than the other. At least the pain isn’t as bad. Just want to move on!!
