Today, I want to acknowledge and celebrate my mother.
I was still a child when I watched her take over the entire responsibilities of our family after my father lost his job. He never fully recovered until the day he left this earth.
Even in that hardship, she gave birth to our last born 2005.
We saw her do all kinds of work just to put food on the table farming, trading, business, catering you name it.
She was called names, mocked,belittled and treated like a no body 🤦🏽♂️😪
Through it all, she never abandoned her home. She continued to respect and honour my father: washing and ironing his clothes, cooking his meals, reaching out to friends to help find him a job , and changing his eating plates every January 1st, no matter how tough things were. She sat faithfully by his side for three weeks and two days until he was pronounced dead and taken to the morgue.
For over 11 years now, she has been both mother and father to us. None of us had entered university when my dad passed, but today, by God’s grace, we have three graduates in the house.
We are here today because she never gave up.
She is the strongest, smartest, most loving, caring, beautiful, understanding, and accommodating woman I know. She is the most prayerful, a true warrior and a fighter.
I’m sure anyone who has suddenly seen poverty enter their home will understand when I say we slept in one room for over ten years, praying every single day and asking God, “When will this end?”
We are not yet where we want to be, but we are no longer where we used to be.
Today, I celebrate her because she is my world 💯
