NSE 20 Share Index: +58.26 points NASI: +3.47 points NSE 25: +86.74 points NSE 10: +36.38 points Banking Sector Index: +3.01 points When every major index rises together, it usually indicates positive investor sentiment across multiple sectors. 2. Banks led the rally The banking sector was the biggest driver. Top gainers included: BK Group (+5.50%) I&M Holdings (+5.34%) HF Group (+3.30%) The Banking Sector Index also advanced, confirming strong buying across financial stocks. 3. Safaricom added significant support Safaricom rose 2.57% to KSh 35.95. Given Safaricom's large weighting in both the NSE 20 and NASI, even a modest gain has a meaningful impact on the overall market. 4. Market breadth was positive The biggest losers: Standard Group, Amac, NBV, Kapchorua Tea and Sameer: are relatively smaller constituents and don't carry enough weight to offset gains in larger banking stocks and Safaricom. Market takeaway The market was mainly driven by: Strong buying in banking stocks A solid gain in Safaricom Broad investor optimism reflected across all major indices To summarise it: Kenyan equities rebounded on Monday, led by banking stocks and gains in Safaricom.
