Arne Slot:
“I haven’t been perfect but I can tell you I would’ve answered this question exactly the same in the year we won the league. As a manager, you can never be perfect… all the decisions I’ve made this season has only been with one idea and that is being very well prepared… [all the decisions] I thought about really well. Not every decision can be the right one so it would be stupid for me to say all my decisions have been the right one. Every time I made a decision it felt like the right one, but a lot of times I never had to make a decision or choices because this was maybe the first time this season that they were no academy players on the bench and that has been an exception. One word to describe this season I would describe it as injury.”
Liverpool failed to negotiate a buy-back option during the paperwork negotiations that sent Caoimhin Kelleher to Brentford for a £18 million transfer fee 😳
If Liverpool ever want to re-sign Kelleher, they will possess no contractual advantage and must negotiate a fresh, market-value fee from scratch.

@Corballyred I Don't believe this story given how successful Slot was in the first season. They probably wanted to keep him for another 5 years, but things didn't turn out well as expected
I've heard an interesting theory👀
Liverpool’s long-term plan has always been to appoint Luis Enrique in summer 2027, with Slot seen now as a transitional manager.
That’s why he wasn’t given a new contract, and Enrique hasn't signed new contract at PSG because LFC interest and talks behind the scenes.
The problem is the situation with Slot has become nearly too toxic to sustain.
That’s why they didn’t go for Alonso and aren’t interested in Iraola for just one season.
The plan now seems to be to stick with Slot, then use an interim if it goes wrong (Gerrard) — bridging until Enrique arrives next summer.
This makes far more sense than the idea that Hughes and Edwards genuinely believe Slot will turn it around long-term.
What do ye think???
Wayne Rooney:
“If I was Arne Slot, I would have Mohammed Salah nowhere near the stadium on Sunday. He's almost dropped a grenade and he said he doesn't believe in Arne Slot.”
I have witnessed this club go from doubters to believers, and from believers to champions. It took hard work and I always did everything I could to help the club get there. Nothing makes me prouder than that.
Us crumbling to yet another defeat this season was very painful and not what our fans deserve. I want to see Liverpool go back to being the heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear and back to being a team that wins trophies. That is the football I know how to play and that is the identity that needs to be recovered and kept for good. It cannot be negotiable and everyone that joins this club should adapt to it.
Winning some games here and there is not what Liverpool should be about. All teams win games.
Liverpool will always be a club that means a great deal to me and to my family. I want to see it succeed for long after I have moved on.
As I’ve always said, qualifying to next season’s Champions League is the bare minimum and I will do everything I can to make that happen.
@SkySportsNews why does he keep blaming injuries for the lack of results? Even when the team is fit, with all 11 starters, our style of play is still terrible. Always so slow, back and sideway passes, and most of the goals are individual effort rather than a coordinated team effort.
"I think they're underestimating what a window can do, we know what to improve and are missing nine players"
Arne Slot is confident of Liverpool improving next season 🔴
@davidlynchlfc Everybody looking at Alonso as a saviour like the Parliamentary Labour Party is looking at Burnham. Alonso is not a guarantee, he is still a huge risk.
Liverpool are prepared to let Chelsea have a free run at Xabi Alonso in order to stick with Arne Slot. It is a massive gamble.

@CarinaKJacob I don't know if I could be happy if Liverpool got 2 or even won the league this season. The style of play just makes me wanna turn on the TV. This means people love the Klopp's team not for the result, but also for the dynamic style of play with constant pressing.
@Rookreviewcom@GMHikaru Yeah, it takes the suspense out of the game. Normally us fans would patiently and eagerly wait to analyze moves and come up with our own conclusions, but now you see 'oh it's a blunder'. It's like watching a football match highlight, but you already know the result.
🇳🇱 Anish Giri on 🇺🇸 Hans Niemann’s Warsaw victory: “I was not shocked”
After Hans Niemann won the Superbet Rapid & Blitz in Warsaw, Anish Giri spoke about his performance:
“I was not shocked. Of course winning is difficult for anybody, but I thought he would probably be in the top half.
I know Hans already really well. We played already a lot. People don’t even know how much we played besides the public matches.
I know he is a very very strong rapid and blitz player.
To finish ahead of such a field was very fortunate, but he performed really well.
The thing he should be proud of the most is the last two rounds. To really come clutch there and win those two games, it was nice.”

@AnfieldWatch I don't see why he would want to leave. He's now a coach of a fantastic team with players listening to him and following his football philosophy. Not to mention he's probably being paid a huge salary at PSG.
@DeveshsK_@leizycatt This comment is how you know this guy is a clown. Magnus hasn't lost a non freestyle tournament in THREE years but you keep sucking Hans until his socks blow off. He will recognize you someday.
Congratulations Hans! Makes me think of the Documentary where everyone was somehow convinced that the notion of you beating Magnus was ridiculous and impossible, which is really laughable considering your results now. The next target should be the Candidates! Best of Luck!
@Corballyred If you're a defender, you're expected to do both well. It's nonsensical to think we would spend big money for players who can only do one thing. It's modern football. Everyone should know how to defend. Unless you're Messi.
Kerkez and Frimpong were signed for their attacking output, not their defending.
Yet in 80 combined games this season, they’ve managed just 4 assists between them — exactly where they were meant to excel🫢
We’ve gone from full-backs who delivered 15+ assists a season to almost nothing.
Yet another example of last summer’s poor recruitment.
