As weight loss medication has been in the news recently, we’d like to remind you that our Drugs in Breastmilk (DiBM) service is a trusted, independent, and free resource for anyone who needs information about taking medication while breastfeeding. Earlier this year, we updated our Diabetes and Breastfeeding factsheet with guidance from the Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (@MHRAgovuk) on GLP-1 medicines used for weight loss and diabetes. “GLP-1 medicines should not be taken by people who are breastfeeding. This is because there is not enough safety data to know whether taking a GLP-1 medicine can cause harm to the baby. If you have any concerns, speak to a healthcare professional."
