@quiet_nightwing Did you even actually want to discuss Andor, or did you just want to yell at someone? Fucking contrarians, lmao.

@quiet_nightwing @MrJulianR1 Andor fans are annoying because they don’t actually criticize their show in meaningful ways. Discussion around it is essentially it’s a 10/10, or you’re a moron.

@lothalites It’s pretty clear that he’s using a dark side power in this instance. It’s not about the code, it’s about how what he’s doing is beginning to lead him down a dark path.

@quiet_nightwing @MrJulianR1 First, stop assuming shit. Second, Star Wars was built around the redemption of the literal super evil hyper space nazi. It’s not a stretch to redeem someone obviously conflicted.

@Hman3488 @MrJulianR1 If u genuinely fucking think that Syril defecting to the rebellion would’ve “actually worked” u need to rethink how u consume this stuff man. It literally works ur tweeting like the general consensus is that his death sucks which is not the case…

@Hman3488 @MrJulianR1 One of the challenging things about this show was that it abandoned the good-guy / bad-guy dichotomy in favour of "government" vs "rebels". Government and Rebels both wanted to maximise govn. oppression (expecting different outcomes) so why should a moral actor be a Rebel?

@manor0110 @MrJulianR1 I don’t care if Syril becomes a hero, I care that he has a satisfying and interesting character arc that follows through on what it sets up.

@Cephalaspis77 @MrJulianR1 I don’t know. In a franchise all about redemption and finding rebellion in anything or anyone, it feels off. Mostly Syril just feels like a wasted interesting character, similar to Cinta.

@ripfish @MrJulianR1 Its first season was fantastic- But its second was on the nose, poorly paced, lacking in style, and it had extremely poor character development.

@ripfish @MrJulianR1 I think it’s probably one of the closer to “good” Star Wars properties. Because as good as its writing is, it can’t decide if it wants to lean into Star Wars or not. I feel like it gets way too much credit, because it’s very much not the 10/10 it’s lauded as. Closer to 7/10.

@ripfish @MrJulianR1 Not to mention Andor’s allergies to having a world that looks and feels like Star Wars, but that’s a separate conversation.

@ripfish @MrJulianR1 Pretty much the whole problem with season 2 is it mashes like 4 seasons into one. It’s why the pacing is absolutely atrocious. The writing is well done and engaging, but the characters and overall plot are lackluster due to the skipping every 2-3 episodes.

@Nico110901 @MrJulianR1 I mean, yes- But Syril didn’t die to the Empire. Dedra was the tool to be disposed of. Syril was a means to an end… but he dies to an old grudge. It’d be more fitting if he had died to the Empire, but instead he dies to something barely developed in season 2.

@Hman3488 @MrJulianR1 oh no but I think it's way better in showing how evil The Empire was. No matter how dedicated you were, you'd still be completely disposed of at the earliest inconvenience. That's why I like the arc of Syril and Dedra, complete loyalty, received nothing

@ripfish @MrJulianR1 Right, but that’s not what I’m saying. He has this inner conflict that’s very small, but quickly builds up to its peak during the Ghorman massacre. It feels boring to waste all that conflict and character potential.

@Hman3488 @MrJulianR1 I think it would've been far to 'clean' to have Syril have this one shocking moment, and then suddenly decide to join the rebellion. His whole arc to this point was "law and order", but for the "right" reasons (in his mind). To suddenly flip and fly off to Yavin? I don't see it?

@ICFL_0 @MrJulianR1 I mean, they don’t have to die. It’s what makes the characters interesting, conflict. Killing your characters the second they have conflict just makes it seem like they did it because it was easier.

@Hman3488 @MrJulianR1 I hear you but the uncertainty of what he’d do next is so good. Tay Kolma, Syril & Mon Mothma’s driver all show signs of a conscience but unfortunately at this stage the rebellion couldn’t afford to risk it so they have to die. Adds to the tragedy.
