Netanyahu just gave an insane speech in which he repeatedly referred to Iranians as "barbarians" and said the US and Israel are fighting a colonial war "to protect civilization". US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth also dehumanized Iranians as "barbaric savages" (as the US military bombs elementary schools and hospitals in Iran). The mask is off. The US and Israel are fascist genocidal regimes that aim to "exterminate all the brutes" of the Global South, as 19th-century European colonialists said.

When I was in my 20s I wished to deepen my understanding of the Israel-Palestine situation. So I purchased at least a dozen books - mostly semi-obscure, academic, many by dissenting Israeli historians. A day came when I closed a book halfway through, resolved to read no further, even to try to forget all I had learned, and then I donated all the books. It was clear, painfully and miserably clear, that I would be wasting my life trying to understand it more when it was nothing more than this.

In major media outlets, the Iranian children were buried deep in the middle pages of newspapers, at the tail end of bulletins, and when their killings were reported, it was most often as mere numbers against a backdrop of U.S.-Israeli denials. But they are not just figures on a spreadsheet, and they are still being slaughtered in Iran, Gaza and Lebanon. More have been killed in the week since the Shajareh Tayyebeh school bombing, more will be killed this week, and more will be killed the week after that. We appeal to the living consciences of this world if they are still alive to look with fairness. The world applies double standards and practices blatant discrimination: When there were Israeli prisoners, the entire world moved demanding, pressuring, imposing sanctions, even punishing an entire people under the pretext of searching for them. In contrast, more than ten thousand Palestinian prisoners are subjected to torture and humiliation, yet no global voice calls for their freedom, and no justice stands for them. What kind of humanity is this? What kind of world is this? It is a shameful silence and a blatant bias.

Last I checked our country invested in war and not their people. People in Iran have healthcare and good schools. A large percentage of their country has Master degrees. They are elite in so many ways and America is a welfare state. We keep borrowing to pay our bills. Iranians pay their bills just fine.
