The real question is whether they understand leverage, timing, seller psychology, negotiation, escrow, and what not to reveal too early.

When you negotiate a domain name price, do not reveal your ceiling too early.
The seller is trying to read how serious you are, how much room you have, and how badly you want the domain.
Push too hard and they may shut down.
Move too fast and they may assume there is more budget.
Explain too much and you may give away why the domain matters.

A domain name owner lookup can make you feel like you found the answer too early.
It might show privacy protection, a registrar, an old company, or contact details that are technically correct but not useful.
A lookup is the first clue.
