VIDEO EXPLAINER: The most important map of the Third Gulf War — the oilfields, the Strait of Hormuz, and the bypass pipelines. Plus a look at how, two weeks into the war, Iran is still exporting lots of its oil, and most of it, via the strait. @opinion

Three days into war with Iran and Trump has utterly failed to lay out a credible reason for why the strikes were launched or a clear plan for how it ends and makes America safer. Talked through it all on @BloombergTV's special coverage w/ @kaileyleinz & @JMathieuReports .

Lesson 3: Retaliation is often delayed & asymmetric. States and groups rarely respond on the attacker’s timeline. Responses may come months or years later — through proxies, terrorism, cyber, or regional escalation. Immediate calm does not mean long-term stability.

Lesson 1: Air power rarely produces friendly regime change. Since WWI, dozens of bombing campaigns have tried to coerce governments from the air. None installed leaders more cooperative with the attacker. Bombing can destroy targets. It does not reliably reshape politics.

Trump promised to end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours, instead he has launched two regime change wars in Venezuela and Iran in the first thirteen months. This is the exact opposite of what he campaigned on and what we were told MAGA wanted.

Barack Obama reached a deal that prevented Iran from getting a nuclear weapon. Trump ripped up that deal. Now we are at war with Iran to prevent it from getting a nuclear weapon.
