Author Richmal Crompton was born #OTD 1890 in Bury, Lancs, educated in Warrington and Darley Dale, Derbyshire. She wrote 40 novels for adults, but is best known for nearly 40 'Just William' books that shaped how childhood is framed and how kids observe adults' peculiarities.

Just thought of an idea I'm vehemently opposed to: one swimmer in each Olympic final is selected to wear a special hat which imbues the wearer with the speed of a speedboat. Not a fan of this idea AT ALL. The special hat is too powerful. We MUST destroy it 😡
