@twinxblades @DexHusky @TemplarsRoar Not the tariffs and ai part of it that drastically affects the gaming market
English

@DexHusky @TemplarsRoar Did tariffs and an administration that champions the billionaire class happen during Biden?
English

@bioluminosity time to buy the game 3 more times 3 new alts lock in
English

been playing destiny since it first came out with the first game. ever since the last wish raid came out I sought this weapon and years for no drops. Idc if the games not getting updated anymore because I got the catalyst and the gun at the same time and I can rest easy #destiny2

English

@Zovanget @lordsilicon @HardwareSteam Overall better in the longterm actually but initial impressions just mean so much
English

@HollyDPad @lordsilicon @HardwareSteam That is true, and I would absolutely encourage people to buy pre-builts. But this is smaller, and you get valve's support. Valve did an amazing job supporting the Steam Deck. You won't get that from a pre-built.
English

@Zovanget @lordsilicon @HardwareSteam I think the best part about all of this is valve letting others build their own steam machines so maybe we get a market of cheaper and more expensive steam machines that are way more worth it in the long run. Plus I do believe the steam machine with drivers and updates will be
English

@HollyDPad @lordsilicon @HardwareSteam Cheaper up front, more expensive in the long run. It's definitely not a solution for everyone. But many people want to get into PC gaming. Many people have computer hobbies besides gaming. This is a full PC. Unlike a PS5. It's both cheaper in the long run, and more capable.
English

@HollyDPad @lordsilicon @HardwareSteam Most people have a controller, or a keyboard and mouse. This system isn't for "most people". It's not intended to sell 100 million units. Maybe 5 million. Valve simply can't sell it for less. Not their fault.
English

@Zovanget @lordsilicon @HardwareSteam I promise you most pc users aren't going outta their way to buy this thing. If you wanna swap to steam os we'll based on my current pc build I can actually just do that rn no issue. Why do I need a steam machine for that. This should be entry to pc but you can buy pre-built less
English

@Zovanget @lordsilicon @HardwareSteam Yes I know it's a pc yes. You can build pcs rn for around the original speculated msrp even with the shit ram prices. Easily below 1.1k atleast.
This thing was clearly meant to be an easy console first pc second system for more chill console market gamers. 750 great 1.1k shit
English

@lordsilicon @HollyDPad @HardwareSteam Dude already explained, with the monthly fees and the high cost of PS games, you will be paying much more in the long run. Plus you are locked into Sony's ecosystem.
English

@XWickedKnightX @reborn_444 It's on steam yes. The gpu is an rx7600 equivalent and the cpu I believe is around a ryzen 5 5800. Don't quote me digital foundry says so
English

@HollyDPad @reborn_444 Has Valve released a spec sheet for the components?
English

Lol you're not building a nice PC with 1400 dollars at the moment
Ram alone is 35 percent of the budget
Trent Reed@trentreed27
I love Steam, but $1,349 is getting into “build a really nice gaming PC” territory. The Steam Machine has to offer something special beyond convenience. Am I missing something here?
English

@reborn_444 A build like this cab do 1080 easy 1440 in some stuff on high for sure. Blows this thing out the water no bottlenecking easily based on gpu alonw
English

@reborn_444 This is definitley not true. You can get the same amount of ram for 250, a 5060 which is better then the gpu here or a 9060 for around 300 to 400 bucks, a motherboard for 150 thats still solid, a case for 100, psu for 80 to 100, a cpu for 200 to 300, basically the same price
English

@reborn_444 You should learn something about market prices before just saying shit tbh
English

I'm seeing a bunch of "here's a PC TWICE as powerful as a Steam Machine that you could build for the same price!"
They all have no-name RAM, SSD, and power supplies that all have a much higher risk of failing and a 0% chance of you getting a warranty claim.
Gamers Nexus put out a build that shows you could save ~$120 with similar performance with a much larger form factor.
So $120 gets you the tiny form factor and a pre-installed OS and setup.
The value proposition exists.
It might not be right for you, and certainly isn't right for me at that price, but there's a market for this thing.
