Pursuant to @Senate_KE Standing Order 53(1), I have sought a Statement from the Standing Committee on Energy regarding the challenges faced by communities living along the Tana River Dam Cascade on the recurring flooding. For years, families in Tana River and Garissa have suffered property loss, displacement, and health risks linked to dam spillages, yet compensation remains rare and inconsistent. I have demanded clear answers on flood mitigation measures, compensation from 2021 to 2026, and a fair benefit sharing framework. Energy generation must not come at the cost of justice. If the dams power Kenya, Kenya must protect the people downstream.
