ICE detained a man who: - Is engaged to a U.S. citizen - Was brought here as a baby - Has no criminal record - Is actively pursuing an education He would have had DACA, except Trump suspended it in 2017 before he could apply. Deporting a guy like this doesn’t make us great.

Thousands of Virginians went without pay as Republicans held DHS hostage so they could spend billions more on ICE brutality, per Trump's orders. As a Member of @HomelandDems , we fought to fund TSA, FEMA, the Secret Service, and more without another dime for ICE. Today, Democrats forced passage of legislation to end the DHS shutdown. The fight to get ICE and CBP under control continues.

The House just passed Democrats’ bill to reopen the Department of Homeland Security. Republicans could have passed this bill months ago. But instead, they chose to hold DHS hostage for nearly 80 days. Democrats were always on the side of the American people.

A bipartisan bill to fully fund the @USCG has been sitting on the Republican Speaker's desk for WEEKS. Republicans have been holding Coast Guard funding hostage while brave servicemembers go without power. It is sickening.
CBS News@CBSNews

EXCLUSIVE: Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Kevin Lunday tells CBS News’ @NicoleSganga that several Coast Guard stations across the country recently lost power, water or gas. Service has been restored, but he warns more outages could happen as the DHS shutdown continues. More tomorrow on @CBSMornings.

Republicans told us there was no money for healthcare and kicked 14 million Americans off Medicaid. Every single one of them just voted to give $70 BILLION DOLLARS to ICE.

House Republicans just passed a budget bill that does NOTHING to lower costs. Instead, it hands $70 billion more to ICE and CBP — while TSA, FEMA, and the Coast Guard remain shut down. The GOP continues to choose terror and cruelty over the American people.

More lies from DHS. There is a bipartisan bill to fully fund FEMA sitting on the Republican Speaker’s desk RIGHT NOW—and he’s refused to bring it up for a vote for weeks. Disaster funding is running out, and Republicans are holding FEMA hostage. It’s despicable.
Homeland Security@DHSgov

.@FEMA’s Disaster Relief Fund —the funding used to respond to and recover from disasters—has fallen below the level needed to sustain normal operations, with CURRENT projections showing ONLY about 30 days of remaining funding capacity, forcing FEMA to implement Immediate Needs Funding. Something FEMA has NEVER done in a shutdown. Because Democrats refuse to fund DHS, disaster recovery efforts may be delayed until funding is restored — endangering countless American lives. Democrats must stop playing political games and REOPEN DHS NOW.

Johnson could have passed the Senate’s DHS funding bill last month but he wouldn’t put it on the floor. Johnson also has the votes to pass the Senate’s DHS funding bill today but he wants to change it and send it back to the Senate which just prolongs the shutdown.
Speaker Mike Johnson@SpeakerJohnson

We've got to fund Homeland Security immediately.   Democrats don't want to help! They have full on Trump Derangement Syndrome and their irresponsibility is now on full display for the whole country.

I’ve faced real threats before. As a young student in Mississippi, I was targeted for standing up for civil rights. This President is weaponizing the Federal government to prosecute critics for speech he doesn't like.

Mother of Katie Abraham, whose name the Trump administration used to justify Operation Midway Blitz, criticizes the deployment of ICE in Chicago: "I learned the Trump administration was using my daughter's name for their political agenda when friends reached out after seeing it on the news. I briefly described the pain of losing my child, and having my daughter's name used this way, it added a level of despair I didn't even know could exist."

Voter suppression in this country is becoming more real every day under the Trump Administration. Credit reporting agencies should not be the determining factor on whether you can vote at the polls. We have real work to do. Shame on this administration!

Accountability isn’t optional. After refusing to testify, Stephen Miller and Tom Homan were called to answer for policies impacting millions. Rep. @repdeliaramirez moved to subpoena them because no one shaping enforcement gets to hide from oversight. During last week’s @homelanddems hearing, we heard directly from Marimar Martinez, Rev. David Black, Army veteran George Retes Jr., and Ryan Ecklund—people living the real consequences of these decisions. @hispaniccaucus members are on this committee to do one thing: hold power accountable and fight for justice. We’re not backing down.

Just to be clear, Republicans have no money for: ❌ Healthcare ❌ Daycare ❌ Hospitals But unlimited tax dollars for: ✅ A ballroom ✅ ICE ✅ War with Iran They don’t care about you.
