I would also ask if you were 5 years old when 9/11 happened or like 17?The range of millennials could encompass both ages. Also doremember desert storm in 1995…or too young? I remember being on a school bus when they announced we were going to war….literally ppl on that bus cried….who’s kids got sent over there? Yeah…boomer kids. Oh those two recessions….im 2008 in the housing shitstorm….did you take advantage of that and buy a house in that depressed situation? Others did

@HomersBeer77 Nah boomers have 40% of all homes, had decades-long jobs and get all the benefits of new policy since leaders are their age.

@PaigeSully88 This is how I equate your comments. I see a neighbor or friend buy a new car….i am like. “That is fucking awesome congrats!” You be like… he didn’t earn that car. I deserve that car. Fuck him! And me…I’m just happy my fiend got a new ride

@PaigeSully88 Third. You literally had “required” student loans? Girl go to community college for two years then transfer. Don’t be upset that I said “girl” out of everything I said😀

That’s great information that didn’t even scratch my question. You are pointing to all these events why millennials have the “most burden”. I’m just post info out that your list literally applies to everyone alive at that time but more important impacts ppl older than you. The stat you gave me is 40pct boomer homeowners. What did that have to do with your original post?

@AZinCLE Can you fast forward 30 years and tell us how what you think the younger generation will demand of you when you are boomer age? I mean you do get older and literally one day (god willing) you will be their age. Ps….im not a boomer

Baby boomers did not build this country. They were born on the heels of the US emerging from WW2 as the sole superpower. A massive advantage that they did not contribute to creating.
DividendBoomer@BoomerDivvies

Boomers didn’t stumble into wealth. They bought homes when everyone else said, “Don’t take on that much debt at 18%” They persevered, did repairs themselves, paid taxes, raised 2,3,4 kids and played the long game. They built the country. And now people call them lucky.

For almost half the year, I work for free because of the taxes I have to pay. Again, folks ain't ready to have a grown-up conversation about what it takes to get a 300K salary (at least).

If you live in a good area…with good schooling…your property appreciated much faster. These areas have the highest property taxes. If everyone now has the same sales tax amount…your property value will decrease and other areas will increase. It’s fine by me but if you live in a nice area you will now live in a less nice area and vice versa.

Even if property taxes get changed to per capita taxes… if you don’t pay they’d put liens on your home. There is no system where you are exempt from all taxes, since we live in a society. Replacing property tax with sales tax would increase food prices by 500%. No matter what you do, the county/city/state would make sure to get back the same exact amount of money it gets from property tax with whatever new system is in place.

My uncle bought a house in 1985 for $80k on a $25k salary. Paid it off in 15 years. Today that same house is worth $450k. My salary is $42k. To buy that same house now, I need $90k down payment. My uncle’s down payment was $8k he had it in 8 months. I’d need 11 years for that same house. Different economy. He won’t stop telling me to just buy property😣

Good Lord! What happened to the promise of lower gas, groceries, taxes, etc? I cleared out a lot of unnecessary expenses and still feel like I am paying more for things than I did last year. I am lucky I don’t have a mortgage. I don’t know how families with a mortgage are doing this. Before you say anything, I moved here from Florida because it was a lot more affordable than where I was living. Things just got rapidly worse over the last few years. I love this area and my job but if it keeps getting more expensive I might need to look for alternative.

@realbenterrell You own a house in Florida? If so, when the governor reduced your property taxes are going to send a special check/deposit to the IRS to compensate?
