What was Ranger School like for you, John?
John W@txradioguy

@Silverback375 I knew a Force Recon Marine that transferred to the Army. He went to Ranger School while he was in the Corps. He called it a fun vacation.

Bottom line up front: No, they did not. More robust answer: We obviously have to respect what Amazon is doing and will not dismiss them out of hand, but this is a product that has been on the market for years now and is not a "direct" attack on any one forwarder or 3PL. Companies choose freight partners for a lot of different reasons. While forwarders can look the same from the outside, there are actually many "flavors" of forwarder who offer different levels of product and service. At the end of the day a (good) forwarder aligns to a company's supply chain and offers them the best value in return for price.

Did Amazon just knee-cap Flexport today?

I made a super simple website where you can see everywhere you can get to in under an hour on the NYC subway. The generated map is both a heat-map (changes color) and a cartogram (warps space). castrio.me/nyc

@NavyStrang @PhilWMagness Closer is safer. It removes the time and space to build up a speed difference. Each tunnel should be single narrow lane with plastic walls. That way it is impossible to hit the side fast. As a bonus, a circular one lane tunnel has 1/4th the cross section of a two lane tunnel.

@PhilWMagness I think the tunnel version of this will make sense with autonomous, electric cars. Autonomous cars should be able to run at over 100 MPH with a fraction of a second between cars. That is high-bandwidth and low-latency transportation.

Desalination is extremely energy intensive and is best paired with something like a nuclear plant, which San Diego closed. (They are popular in the Middle East due to ready access to cheap LNG)
Saad Asad@realsaadasad

San Diego built a $1B desalination plant and now runs it at one-third capacity. With the Colorado River shrinking and Western states facing shortages, the county is selling its surplus, a rare case where costly infrastructure investment is paying regional dividends. nytimes.com/2026/04/17/cli…

Parking lots already pay almost nothing in taxes but regardless of that the point of taxes is to benefit the greater good. Simone installing solar on their property benefits everyone by driving down electricity prices and they still have to bear the expense associated with the panels.

@BradDuplessis “Standards and discipline” apparently don’t apply to online conduct. Weird.

PSA for the junior officers out there. Don’t do this. Never fawn over your boss — Senior leaders don’t need you to build up their public image. They need you to do your job. This goes for your rater and senior rater too. Don’t get it confused, every interaction with them is an evaluation — treat it as such. Own your part of the organization by knowing your unit status: personnel, equipment, training…and challenges. This is the professional discussion leaders need to assess the organization and how they can help you. This level of obsequiousness is how you put yourself in a position where your peers don’t trust you and your superiors begin to think your reports are crafted for self-promotion.
Raise the Black@KTB_500

As a current Regimental/BCT Commander this is 100% true, its that restoration of Standards and Discipline, empowering our NCOs and Commanders to do the hard work that we ask them to do.... ALL BECAUSE OUR LEADERSHIP HAS OUR BACK NOW! Thank you, @PeteHegseth for this renewal of our Ethos.
