Under a Hickory tree somewhere near the equator, Rev. James Jamieson Willis of the Church Missionary Society (CMS) gathered his first learners and pointed upward. "Which tree is this?" he asked. They answered, "Ma Oseno." This is Oseno. Luo word for the Hickory tree. "Ma'seno?" he repeated. Reshaping it as it crossed his tongue. And in that small moment of translation; half question, half mistake, Maseno was born. That was 120 years ago. Joined H.E. President @WilliamsRuto during the 120th anniversary celebrations of Maseno School held at the institution's grounds. The colourful event brought together students, staff and key stakeholders to honour the school's enduring legacy and its long-standing contribution to our education sector.

Launched by H.E. President @WilliamsRuto in November 2025, the Kamuwongo–Kandwia Road, part of the wider B64 corridor closing a critical gap in the Mwingi–Kamuwongo–Ciangera corridor, is currently undergoing a bitumen-standard upgrade. Earthworks and initial grading are underway along the 13-kilometre stretch, with most sections now at subgrade level and prepared for base and asphalt layering. Once complete, it will provide a continuous paved link from the Thika–Garissa (A3) Highway in Mwingi to the Ena–Chiakariga–Meru (B65) corridor, effectively connecting Kitui to Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Meru counties and opening up Mwingi North to broader northern markets and trade flows. Parallel to this progress, works are advancing on the Kyuso–Tseikuru Road (B52), extending the connectivity chain deeper into the region. While Tseikuru has produced some of the country's most decorated leaders, it has long carried the irony of being a backwater where ordinary citizens still contend with poor roads, a reality now being decisively addressed. The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration continues to support the project's delivery by reinforcing road safety along the corridor through coordinated traffic management, public awareness and enforcement. Do you know a brief history of PS, Fikirini Jacobs? First this guy joined Maasai Mara University in 2015 to pursue a Bachelor of Education. Later in the same University, he was elected as the Deputy president, Student Councils. Later in 2017 he was expelled from the Maasai Mara University. He then joined Pwani University to pursue Bachelor degree in philosophy. Joining Pwani, he was elected as the Chairperson,Student Councils. In between his term,he was again expelled from Pwani University . Bytheway they worked with Josh in the same cabinet 😃. It took intervention of political goodwill for him to be reinstated back. He came back later and cleared his degree but was barred from student politics. In 2022, I think he had an ambition to become senator, Kilifi County. I think ODM powerhouse convinced him and he dropped the ambition. Post 2022 in worked in Kilifi County Government,Delivery unit. Recently he was appointed as the PS,Youth Affairs.
