@NatMartin30 100% agree
If he keeps putting in that effort , he'll have a big day soon
I was disappointed with him in the first half but he never dropped his head and kept trying and had a influence on us winning the game
Respect 👌

Thank Allah, Jesus, Buddha, whoever we didn’t lose that.
TOM BARRASS.
Newcombe after quarter time.
Sicily second half.
Mackenzie pretty solid.
Jack Gunston.
Massimo’s best game for how long?
Nash clamped Warner.
Enjoy the weekend @HawksInsiders

What an unusual way to report a Sydney injury by claiming it is a ‘massive boost’ for Hawthorn.
Is it a massive boost to Sydney that Will Day is out? - sounds a little rent free to me.

7NEWS Melbourne@7NewsMelbourne
Hawthorn has received a massive boost to Thursday night against the Swans as one of Sydney’s most important players is headed for surgery. @XanderMcGuire7 has the details. @7AFL

@BradKlibansky @HawksInsiders Do you reckon theyll just send reeves into centre bounce and then get him off?
English

@HawksInsiders I got more excited seeing Ollie greeves for a quarter than Finn and Morrison for the last 3 years
Can take a grab , take on a tackle , great disposal
Get him in
English

I have an idea. Lets just let all teams play in opening round. Have all interstate teams host games. And we'll call it round 1. Sounds good?

@BradKlibansky Croc is a star half forward not a mid, i think bulter is more suited in that role with his toughness in the middle

✍️ Early Selection Dissection thoughts for Round 1 against Essendon 😬
For Hawthorn supporters expecting an easy win, it won’t happen. Other than ANZAC Day, this will be Essendon’s biggest game of the year.
Merrett. Caldwell. Durham. Parish, Roberts, Duursma & Fiorini is a decent midfield unit. If Hawthorn’s midfield play like they did against GWS, Essendon will win this game.
After round 1, Hawthorn play- Sydney, Geelong & the Bulldogs. They’ve also got Gold Coast, Collingwood and Fremantle away in the first 9 weeks. 0-2 would be panic stations.
Under the pump 😰
Finn Maginness- will be omitted for Mackenzie. 7th year on the list and still not sure what his role is. Was an elite tagger in 2023. Why change that? Disposal not close to AFL standard.
Massimo D’Ambrosio- had a very inconsistent 2025 and was lucky there was no depth in his position. Started 2026 poorly. Lacks pace and size. Must find more of the ball and use it well.
Harry Morrison- plays well against poor team but struggles against quality opponents. Lacks the size and pace to play modern day wing.
Mitch Lewis- 4 disposals, 3 marks and 1 goal in the first 3/4’s. Got junk time disposals in the last quarter. He won’t have the luxury of many more performances like Saturday if he wants to hold his spot. Strong depth at VFL level.
Lloyd Meek - his pre-season form was a big worry and it carried over. Got well beaten by Kieren Briggs in the centre - 7 clearances to 2 and lacked his usual physicality. Struggling with the new ruck rules. A big watch moving forward.
In the mix 🙋
Cam Mackenzie- missed the GWS game with concussion. His time to perform is now. Will get a massive opportunity this season to show why the club didn’t trade him and why he’s part of the future. Must start this week against the Bombers.
Bodie Ryan- Was close to a debut last season before getting injured. Was one of the best in the VFL practice match against Casey on Saturday. I fear another Jai Serong situation coming at the end of the season.
Clasher Dear - Kicked 2 goals in the VFL practice match. I would have him in over Lewis and would have played him yesterday. I can’t see it happening after listening to the coach speak recently. Will need 2-3 weeks of good performances in the VFL before being considered.
Ned Reeves - Unfortunately he sat out the last quarter in the VFL yesterday with ice on his hamstring. Hopefully just a precaution. With what we saw from Meek in pre-season and in the centre yesterday, he will be playing sooner rather than later.
Max Ramsden - Kicked 3 in the VFL and can also play ruck. Unfortunately plays a similar role to Mabior Chol. Another strong year in the VFL and he will be at another club in 2027 and beyond.
Bailey Macdonald- Could he be a different option on the wing or down back with his pace? Played as the sub 4 times in 2025. Foot skills still a worry.
Flynn Perez- Had a great pre-season and deserved his SSP selection. Was an emergency on Saturday, so must be very close. Move Amon to the wing or Impey forward and give Perez a crack across half back?
What changes are you making for Round 1 against the Bombers @hawksinsiders?
English

@goldandbrown4 Nash keeps playing like that , bring greeves or hustwaite in
English

@jkazar @AFLcomau @BradKlibansky Afl 360 swanny just said its not the action its whether his head hits the ground , Durham would of got weeks if the oppos head it the ground
So if oppos head whips back for a free kick the other bloke is suspended
Wow
English

@AFLcomau @BradKlibansky please tell me the difference between jai and Durham

@NatMartin30 Key forward who could take a grab would be nice
I miss calsh already
English

@BradKlibansky @HawksInsiders He does leave such a big hole, barrass had such a underrated season last year
The young fella has got to start somewhere I'd back him in , I watched him all last year in vfl , his not a vfl player !
English

@Hoolie27 @HawksInsiders No bigger test than the Darcy and Naughton combo!! Jordan Croft has shown he’s going to be a quality player as well
English

Tom Barrass and “back issue” is not what you want to read with opening round less than two weeks away @HawksInsiders
Josh Gabelich@JoshGabelich
Tom Barrass is sidelined with a back issue ahead of Opening Round. Won't play this Friday night. Jack Ginnivan cleared to return against the Western Bulldogs @AFLcomau bit.ly/4aOVr5b

@BradKlibansky Wardy try's his guts out every game i watch him , love how he goes about it!!

Interesting 👀 👇. @JoshGabelich knows the Hawks! I’d have Dear over Reeves and maybe Butler over Morrison. Thoughts @HawksInsiders?

English

@newmo03 Wish we had more pre season footage from the club , I miss footy
