Carlton has two first rounders but also two second rounders. Regardless of this ruling they should be able to use their current pick 3 and one or both of those seconds on Walker. Then will hope to use the Sydney 1st at the draft. As for what they do with Cripps and McKay, who knows?

Carlton gave up the first 6-6-6 free kick of the year with only five minutes on the clock. McGovern had just kicked a goal. The umpires ruled that the Blues didn’t get a wingman in place in time. The league view is that it was a clear infraction @FOXFOOTY

The AFL spoke to Jason Johnson yesterday to emphasise that there cannot be a repeat of what happened in the Zak Butters case - where the former Bomber started driving his car midway through the hearing. Johnson maintains his switch at the pointy end of the tribunal from desktop computer to hands-free call while driving didn’t impact his ability to assess evidence. But - also conceded to the league that he knew it was the wrong thing to do. Johnson will still be available to be a tribunal panellist in the future. @CaptainUniverse Agree, would have been stoked to see Byrne as I feel we needed another small last week, and surprised to see Fog training this week after whatever that hit was. They’ll never please all of us until they start winning, then they’ll still only please most 😅

Plying both Carroll and Cowan off limited pre seasons and 3/4 in a VFL practice match seems dangerous. Glad HOK is in. That’s a good change. Surprised that Fogarty kept his spot, but why are we surprised given what we’ve seen at selection for 5 years now.

@Blueirons I agree to a point, same old sloppy selections. If we are going to make change, make change, don’t continue to lose with what we know. And that 3rd quarter should not be accepted by anyone, regardless of personnel changes, young side, changed game plan…..it was insipid.

The reaction to Carlton’s loss has been fierce. A lot of criticism is fair, particularly around how we handle momentum swings. But with new players, coaching changes and a shift in game style, this season feels closer to a reset than a continuation 1/5
