@pattywetli Looks like a "frost crack" to me. I live in Wisconsin and had that happen to some trees in my neighborhood once during some wild temperature swings. Some trees were cut down, but mine fused back together and is still standing. americanclimbers.com/frost-cracks/

Do trees just spontaneously split apart? Or do they need to be, oh, I don’t know, whacked by heavy construction equipment?
