@BiasedHouston But what happens is they get defended less aggressively bc defenders become scared to touch them. It's almost like you have to let them shoot or risk getting called for a foul every possession

For all of the time and effort that went into draft adjustments, the NBA has to figure out how to competitively balance its postseason. For decades now the West has been demonstrably better than the East. It's time the league figure out how to account for such a wide disparity

@AbelGe87 He doesn't wanna come West. Lebron wants to go East. A lot of guys are watching OKC/SAS and choosing the easier path.

@AbelGe87 Anecdotally, when you look at big games for us, when we lose it's rare that these others played even competently, let alone well. And when we win, usually it's not in spite of them - Amen, Bari, Alpi, Reed - most or all contribute meaningfully.

@AbelGe87 I see what he's saying, like you can't organize your entire D around non-elite players, but our problem is the collective, not one or two guys. Like a lot of fans want to organize our entire O to mitigate Amen's non shooting or play thru Jabari more etc.

I'm also still hopeful that their draft potential comes to fruition, or something closer to it than what we've gotten to date.

There are players I see as almost in untouchable in trade talks simply because I don't see them possessing much value in a return and trading them would be selling low. Reed and Jabari are both in that boat for me. I just don't see a strong market for either.

@fyrebear Wing defenders at the top are growing and guys aren't getting grandfathered in based on reputation or past performance. Amen had the worst defensive rating of his career, had less than half his block rate on five more mins a game. He was a borderline case, it's not a big snub.

@fyrebear I just can't help but feel there's homerism here. Which is fine, I mean I get it. But you're talking about what he's capable of doing vs what he actually did. He was better defensively last season (24-25) and just didn't have the same impact this regular season on a nightly basis

@fyrebear But the Rockets didn't drop off much defensively when he was off the court. Like Daniels advanced stats, on off, etc are objectively better than Amen during the regular season. Don't get me wrong, I think Amen is an elite defender, but he just didn't have Daniels defensive impact

@BimaThug It's insane. Not sure I've ever seen a team with depth quite like OKC. And that's not hyperbole.

The OKC Thunder BENCH would be a decent NBA team.

@midrangejumpr2 @HorryForThree Man I would again disagree. From the eye test, he looked like the best perimeter defender every night on the floor Don’t have any advanced analytics to back that up I don’t think a defensive team should have 3 centers personally

I know this is unpopular among Rockets fans, but I don't think he deserved all defense this season. Ausar was 2nd in the league in stocks, Amen wasn't in the top 20. His D in general took a step back this season, probably bc of the greater offensive role.
Bradeaux@BradeauxNBA

Wow…. Amen Thompson didn’t make an all defensive team this year. While he’s in this current state there will never be 10 defenders in the league that are better than him. He should’ve made the second team.

Dare I say it's not very ethical to flop like you got hit in the face when you got “weight roomed” by 6’3 190-pound Jared McCain?

@JTGatlin I recall CP3 and KD not getting along in Phoenix. That probably played a role.

This is the type of stat all defense voters look at: craftednba.com/player-traits/… If your favorite defender isn't even on the list, he's probably not going to get a lot of votes.
