Keep in mind if the Kane money isn’t available, they’re basically dollar in dollar out at the deadline which makes all this very tricky. Unless they can find a deal and trade Kane before the deadline.

i think last nights game kills the idea that a team doesn’t need both makar and bouchard.
even if makar is playing, you need another d man on this team that can move the puck. it is clear that they don’t have that if makar isn’t playing.
