This sequence was an epic story by itself: 🔹LeBron realizes he may have cost Luka 60 by missing him on the inbounds 🔹Luka gets fouled anyway. Bench+LeBron celebrate 🔹Luka misses the 1st FT. Not sure who was more nervous between LeBron and Luka 🔹Luka gets his 60, gets mobbed

There is almost a direct correlation between Towns screening and offensive effectiveness for the Knicks. Opponents will do everything they can to prevent/suppress this action. Pay close attention to how the Knicks respond to these counters—it may just define their postseason.
ALL NBA Podcast@ALLCITY_NBA

Towns has set 411 on-ball picks over that span. Of the 77 players who have set at least 150, no screener has been more successful on a per-action basis than Towns (1.24 points per direct screen). A very promising sign for NY as the playoffs loom

@CliffNyk 🤣 Tbh I (Geoff) still think that would be a terrible matchup for Charlotte. Cade is amazing and an easy All-NBA player but Detroit can stay physical defensively and attack the paint on both ends—two things Charlotte struggles with most. 107.6 DRTG without Cade this season 👀

Did the Raptors just out-Piston the Pistons? You’re not supposed to beat Detroit when they outshoot you from 3. But 7 more OREBs and 3 fewer TOVs was the difference. Oh ya, despite being 4-5 in their last 9, Toronto is +59 when Scottie Barnes plays. He gives them w/e they need.

@trevortheissen Totally fair! It definitely isn’t 100/0 (ie 100% lifted by Hali, 0% suppressed by w/e the hell is going on in Milwaukee this year)

@taylormetrics bucks fanbase is intensely hooper pilled, i'd argue the most in the entire league from what i've seen. they are convinced he's the 3rd best guard on the team and should be used as trade bait lol

FWIW I think, despite how poorly it’s turned out, the Myles Turner move was a legit fine last ditch effort. What he was in Indiana was the ideal Center next to Giannis Antetokounmpo. We just collectively underrated how much Tyrese Haliburton was elevating his perceived value.
Andy Bailey@AndrewDBailey

Think about how crazy it is that the Milwaukee Bucks fired Mike Budenholzer, who won them a title, hired Adrian Griffin, fired Adrian Griffin 43 games into a season in which he was 30-13, hired … DOC RIVERS … traded Khris Middleton for Kyle Kuzma and waived-and-stretched Damian Lillard (thus taking on an annual $20 million cap hit for nothing) to add Myles Turner.

After a bunch of noise about if their stars could play together, the Lakers open with a set that sees interactivity between Luka Doncic, LeBron James and Austin Reaves and ends with a Reaves 3 You can't tell me this wasn't intentional from JJ Redick lmao

@shwinnypooh Probably the answer but the Timberwolves have like 8 rotation players when healthy. Naz/Gobert/Randle can take 100% of the 4/5 minutes (because Naz can toggle positionally) and all 3 would play plenty!

This is wild. The Timberwolves have had elite health. I can’t think of a logical reason this lineup hasn’t played more. Very strong argument for it being their best lineup.

There’s a reasonable argument Keon should be the 5th starter. But Kenny Atkinson seems to value what he brings and understands his impact. What was happening in Sacramento is beyond reason. They were an awful team playing like six different vets who all need the ball to succeed.
Michael Redd@MichaelRedd_

I don't quite understand why Keon Ellis doesn't get more PT. I get he just landed in Cleveland, so can't judge his time there yet, but whenever he plays he seems to bring good energy, tough defense and, just often enough, solid offensive production. Sacto could've played him more last year and early this season.

@xavierjdesigns @iPacersblog Teams have to be careful trading for guys 1) on teams with coaches like Joe Mazzulla 2) on teams with players like Haliburton See: Turner, Myles

@iPacersblog @HotHandTheory Yup Hali was like top 5 with a very low FTr. You basically have to be a guy who can make everyone else better versions of themselves.

And because Ingram is older AND they’re capped out, the urgency of this season feels greater. Instead of a fun, young, upstart team with a core of rising stars and a surprising rookie (CMB), it feels more like a finished product, “this is the ceiling—what trade needs to be made?”

It’s made for an awkward dynamic though. With Ingram they slow it down and operate from the midpost, expecting others to mold their games around that. But without him the offense is more naturally fluid and interactive. The Raptors whole comes much closer to the sum of its parts.
