So good as always. To me, the crucial point is towards the end with how Mike Brown has been the right operator of the imperfect parts. Shamet couldn’t get off the bench in round 1. But for the ECF, he was rightfully front and center.

Obviously we get stuff wrong all the time, but given we respond to 99.9% of comments we get I feel immensely validated at two years of confidence that a maximized Karl-Anthony Towns is an elite, winning player. Two years of non-stop hate & denial any time we tried analyzing him.

@GeoffRasmussen_ ended up being exactly correct about this. I thought the Knicks were good enough to get by Cleveland despite being suboptimally deployed but the game going the way it did forced an adjustment. Now we wait and see what Brown actually learned from the game 👀

Also I ended up being wrong about Mark Daigneault benching Hartenstein which is, frankly, shocking given he had IHart avoid Wemby like the plague after the start of game 1. So maybe Mike Brown will keep the lineup but actively deploy more direct counters 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

@HotHandTheory @loopedcotton even if he doesnt start hart, i give mike brown alot of credit for closing a playoff game with a guy who was literally out of the rotation for the majority of the playoffs thus far, because he saw something else worked. gotta respect it.

Cavs/Knicks game 1 final thoughts: -the Knicks came into this game appearing actively surprised that the Cavs weren’t willingly pulling their rim protectors out of the paint like their last two opponents. It took 38 minutes (2 years?), but they saw the merit of 5-out. Enormous.

The Cavs are, by far, the opponent best equipped to attack the Knicks’ few weaknesses and chip away at a big part of what has made the Knicks so successful (hub Towns). In a way, they may be the tougher matchup but also the one to help the Knicks maximally prepare for OKC or SA.

@chillbutvibrant My guess is Hart will come out with a chip on his shoulder and shoot more confidently. The problem is so long as the Cavs trust the process, it’s a huge hindrance to the rest of the offense. OKC got 8-14 from 3 from Caruso with Wemby ghosting him and the overall O still cratered.

@HotHandTheory We both agree that MB will not bench Hart. Best I think we can realistically hope for is that he has a quick hook if Hart starts game 2 0-2 from 3 or is hesitant to shoot the ball.
