@ABDanielleSmith @UCPCaucus will not be happy until they produce a generation of students who have zero civics education or ability to question anything! We teach perspectives in school so that ALL voices can be heard not just some voices. That’s not ideology,that’s Canadian diversity at work!

Schools should be focused on teaching kids how to think, not what to think. Classrooms must be an impartial learning environment that prioritize teaching fundamentals like reading, math and science and support students in developing their own opinions and views. Our students and educators need to be safe in the classroom. We will be strengthening the Education Act to protect them from incidents of violence and aggression with clear standards and expectations. School boards will be held accountable if those standards are not followed.

I have serious concerns as a Social Studies teacher in Alberta today … the grade 10 curriculum I am currently teaching is globalism , grade 11 is nationalism , grade 12 is literally “ideologies”! We need informed citizens with critical thinking skills - that scares @UCPCaucus

@Zone3Garden It is for 16 months max & it was clear to us all in the lead up to the strike that @albertateachers could only fund benefits on an interim basis that would have to be repaid. We are not only a union we are a professional association- big difference! More services to pay for!

@demetriosnAB Or-here is a thought: @Alberta_UCP could have actually gone to the table with the @albertateachers in Oct to address most of these issues through legitimate bargaining! These same complexity issues were part of that ask instead of salary & the govt forced their bad deal anyhow!
