@jo3hill Totally agree. It appears licencing is to make the (admittedly underfunded) Met's job easier. And ignore businesses, patrons, and residents (by kicking all venues out at the same time). Shoreditch has been shut down. Aside from the "car bars - music blasting, drinks/drug driving.

The Met have tried to block a premier jazz club from opening a new branch with a license until 1:00AM. It’s really sad that the police see their job as preventing Londoners having a good time. Every international city I go to has a better nightlife than London now.

@UKPropertyTruth Oh I don't doubt that. Fully aware there were many priced at this level in this development. What I mean is this one in particular seems very underwhelming. Just a slightly larger than average 2 bed. Nothing in it to justify the premium over similar new (at the time) 2 beds.

@JRY1998__ @cabsfortheboys1 Ok. Still, I think that doesn't make a huge difference. It's not like the road markings can really "save you". It's generally too late to react when you see them. And there's so many fake ones - pretty much under every motorway gantry, camera or not - they have little relevance.

@julesvcode @pizzaboy Half the annual rainfall of Sydney, though maybe not this year. January and February were grim. The worst in my 20 years here. Still, the rainy London stereotype always baffles me. Even when it does rain, it tends to be light, and brief. I get rained on a few times a year.

@HouseHoxton @theashrb My fantasy is now mortgage free. I borrowed £140k, paid back plus interest over 25yrs and now have a property that is worth £600k. I’ve now freed up £4k a month to save even more than the £1.4m pension pot I’ve amassed. I can retire any time I choose. That’s my REALITY.🤷‍♂️

In my humble opinion, you can’t slap a price on the security of owning your home… especially in retirement.

The average UK mortgage is £200,000 at 5% over 25 years. Total repayment? £350,000. You borrow £200K and pay back £350K. £150,000 straight to the bank. For nothing. Then you pay to fix up the house. Stuff breaks. You pay insurance monthly. Fees when/if you sell the property. And we act like renting is throwing money away. There is a strong argument for renting.

Another picture to get under the skin of the anti Wetherspoon's brigade. This afternoon, there was a manager's special, on the afternoon special menu. Fish, Chips and Mushy Peas, with a soft drink. £4.87. The fish was decent and I've had a lot worse for a lot more money.

As a chocaholic nothing would bring me more pleasure than for Cadburys to collapse. They betrayed everyone when they closed down their factory in Birmingham and sold to a filthy American conglomerate. A glass an a half in every dairy milk ended up three glugs of palm oil and a cheap labour plant in Poland. Boycott the cunts

Cadbury eggs stacking up on shelves… reduced everywhere… and still no one’s buying. People can taste the difference. Cheaper ingredients, palm oil, higher prices it’s not the same chocolate anymore. Consumers aren’t stupid. They’ve just stopped buying it!!
