One thing I've always wondered is why was the puppet Yoda in The Phantom Menace (since replaced with CGI) so terrible? It didn't look like Yoda at all. When they used a puppet again for The Last Jedi, that one looked right.

The original Star Wars myth wasn’t really about “rebellion.” It’s about the restoration of righteous order. It’s the wisdom of the old Arthurian tales set in space, not Bolshevik revolutions in a galaxy far, far away. Rebellion is not inherently good.

@BowmanJose36107 @PaulAnleitner Isn’t “rebellion is not inherently good” pretty self-explanatory? Rebellion for a righteous cause is good but constant upsetting of order is bad. Something like that.

@PaulAnleitner What is your goal in making the statement “rebellion is not inherently good” People should be more obedient to power and government because of your take on Star Wars? What are you trying to say because I don’t think you’re saying anything

@kill_finch Pretty sure the message was the opposite of what you just wrote. Using such a mocking tone while being so wrong is a bad look.

🧵A 2024 survey of more than 3,000 middle- and high-school history teachers across nine states found that over 1 in 4 now use “A People’s History of the United States” by Howard Zinn as standard classroom material. A book notorious for presenting a deeply flawed and ideological retelling of American history is now shaping curriculum across the country. And who helped push it into classrooms? You guessed it: the teachers’ unions...(1/5)@Rstorechildhood

And how do we get through the Van Allen Radiation belt for all of these trips back and forth? And based on how much fuel Elon has said it would take to get to Mars... how many trips would it take to load up enough fuel on a tanker on the moon to allow for this? Looks like a metaphor to me about human conciousness and the new age of our digital world, rather than an actual "moon" itself. We've never set foot on the thing because we can't develop the correct equipment to even survive the trip through the radiation belt, let alone go to Mars. I mean just look at the "live stream" of Mars and match it up exactly with the lands in Canada. Everything is a metaphor for life HERE on EARTH. That's all we have and all we know.

NASA just officially unveiled their master plan for a permanent Moon Base at the lunar South Pole This is not just about flags and footprints. NASA is moving to establish an enduring, sustained human presence, and they are heavily relying on commercial innovators to build it The roadmap is highly aggressive: • Phase 1: Heavy robotic missions and commercial payload deliveries • Phase 2: Semi-permanent infrastructure, including fission surface power and lunar drones • Phase 3: A sustained, permanent human outpost The most important takeaway is NASA explicitly stated this base is the ultimate proving ground to prepare humanity for missions to Mars While legacy aerospace companies are still struggling to reliably get a small capsule to the ISS, NASA is setting the stage for massive lunar infrastructure....which is exactly the kind of heavy-lift planetary deployment SpaceX’s Starship was designed for The multi-planetary economy is officially kicking off

Let's put this into perspective: UC regents eliminated the SAT requirement because they found it "racist", even after their own (very left-leaning) expert panel declared that the tests predict college performance better than any other metric. A lot of us warned what would happen, and now it's happening.

University of California STEM professors want standardized tests back due to severe math deficiencies among students: “We now observe preparation gaps so severe that instructors must reteach middle school mathematics” “The current admissions metric, based primarily on GPA & essays, can no longer reliably distinguish readiness for university-level STEM majors in an era of severe grade inflation & AI assisted application essays”

@jimmygandhi @avidseries Yes. As we also had more specific words now obscured by the word “hate”: bigotry, racism, discrimination, prejudice. Language changes. But new language that makes meaning *less clear* is ideologically driven.

There many kinds of street people that the word "unhoused" obscures. Hobos, tramps, vagabonds, vagrants, and bums used to mean different types of people. There's a homeless guy near me that spends the whole day sitting in the sun in a lawn chair and cheerfully says hello to everyone. He's different from the meth addicts around the corner.

Normalize use of the terms "hobo" and "street person" and “bum” to describe the long-term homeless. Mock those who use the term "unhoused" to describe the mentally ill and drug addicted hobos that degrade the quality of life in our cities.

The primary problem with “unhoused” - in addition to be yet another attempt to control speech - is it suggests it’s primarily society’s responsibility to provide us shelter. We’re all either housed or unhoused by society. Eliminating stigma helps no one but affluent progressives

@robkhenderson “Not sure” seems pretty popular, which isn’t to unreasonable when asked a question lacking key details. Then again, there are enormous swaths of Americans who don’t believe the U.S. deserves to succeed. Especially, but not exclusively, under Trump.

YouGov: More than half of Americans without a college degree say that if the US needs help from its allies then its allies should agree to help, compared with only 40% of college graduates.
