According to the Rules of Procedure of Parliament, a non-member of Parliament should not be appointed Government Chief Whip in Uganda @ObothOboth @Thomas_Tayebwa @KagutaMuseveni
Rule 16(1)(a) of the Rules of Procedure of Parliament, which provides that there shall be:
“a Government Chief Whip appointed by Government from among the Members of Parliament representing the ruling party.”
This means the person must be:
a Member of Parliament, and
an MP representing the ruling party #NewCabinet2026

I love how NUP guys are defending Joel Ssenyonyi's budget. How can one have a budget of UGX 1,458,265,700 for travel abroad, UGX 490,800,000, for travel inland, UGX 928,183,272 for allowances, UGX, 264,000,000 for transport maintenance, UGX 240,000,000, for death benefits and funeral expenses, UGX 225,417,500 for workshops and seminars, UGX 168,810,000 for advertising, UGX 119,800,000 for welfare and entertainment, and UGX 22,992,500 for beddings and clothing all from the Office of the Leader of the Opposition and you find it okay?

@IGGUganda has arrested Ms. Atim Mega, a senior Agricultural Engineer of Apac District Local Government for allegedly uttering a false document. Ms. Atim recorded a statement today at the IG Lira Regional Office and will appear before court in Apac district on 26th, May, 2026. According to investigations, in May 2024 Ms. Atim applied for the post of Senior Agricultural Engineer with Apac District Local Government and was appointed. However, the appointment letter as Agricultural Engineer dated 3rd February, 2020, from Itek-Okille Farmers’ Cooperative Society which she submitted as part of her work experience and the basis upon which she was appointed, was disowned by the leadership of the Institution and declared a forgery as she has never worked with them.
