one of the fastest way to hack meditation is sauna and cold plunge I’ve been doing both since I was a kid if you start learning how to properly use the sauna then you’ll come to realize most people go to the sauna performatively anyone who doesn’t cold plunge between sets is doing it wrong the cold plunge is essential along with the sauna also if you don’t need the cold plunge then you aren’t going hard enough in the sauna think of it like resistance training when I first started experimenting with Buddhism and meditation I quickly realized the temperature extremes are the perfect resistance training for meditation start with 3 sets of each 15 mins sauna - 3 min cold plunge 20 mins sauna - 4 min cold plunge 25 mins sauna - 5 min cold plunge then to speed it up I pour water and scents on the sauna so the humidity is really high to increase the resistance further and cold plunge by holding my head and whole body under water for 30-60 seconds at a time it’s about withstanding each extreme as long as possible, the longer and more calm you manage it, the more rewarding the switch becomes after a certain point correct breath work and posture are the only way to continue, and so you get forced into deeper meditative states of deep controlled calm breathing along with a strong posture I cook myself in the sauna until I’m about to die, I will sit until my heart is pounding and I’m about to pass out, until my body is begging for the ice bath, then I switch and sit in the ice bath until I’m freezing and then I hold my head under the water until it’s uncomfortable and I’m dizzy, then I run back into the sauna and at that point I’m basically high and euphoric for the rest of the session it’s about meditation, self-control, etc - along with being great for your physical health it unlocks a special euphoria, you get high from the meditative aspects of it if you just do that 1-2 times a week your attention span will rapidly improve, it’s probably more than 10x as effective as standard meditation when done correctly
