At this point, I can’t even bring myself to care anymore. I’m buying physical no matter what.

Nintendo announces that starting in May 2026 (with Yoshi and the Mysterious Book), new Nintendo published digital titles exclusive to Switch 2 will have an MSRP that is different from physical versions nintendo.com/us/whatsnew/ab…

@warrior_pcmr @baltibirds20 @idonotexistelol Doesn’t change my point at all, the “$-per-frame” is much higher on PC right now.
Historically that gap was much smaller. Hardware prices are high and getting higher
English

@Huddyfuddy @baltibirds20 @idonotexistelol You're confusing upscaling with native rendering. Upscaling helps systems that don't have the raw power to natively render at a high resolution. Upscaling is basically stretching a lower resolution to the same size as a higher resolution.
Also, Steam doesn't share monitor hz. 🙄
English

@ObsoleteSony Will never happen. Get a android handheld and give up hope
English

@baltibirds20 @idonotexistelol Fair point. The way things are going now though. Planned obsolescence is being worked into GPUs. Nvidia will never make another 1080 Ti.
English

@Huddyfuddy @idonotexistelol Is already outdated the moment it releases. So its only getting further behind each year. A highend pc today is the latest and greatest and will relevant for far longer than a console
English

There are a few games that get 4k120 on the base ps5 with upscaling. Even if you forget about that, is paying literally 5-6x as much worth a few more frames? For most people it’s not.
Most people don’t have a monitor capable of higher frame rates (based on steams hardware stats) or even know what fps/hz even is!
English

@Huddyfuddy @idonotexistelol Youre pretty spot on, i built a 9800x3d-5080 rig over 2025 so could easily gather up my total costs. It was $2184. Thats with 32gb ram and 8tb of nvme storage and unnecessary rgb fans that added over $70 to the total.
Also lets not act like ps5 is doing 4k120 on anything
English

When it comes to PC hardware, the cost is much higher in proportion to the cost of console hardware.
4k 120fps console = $500
4k 120fps PC = $2500 (on average)
That’s just for the tower. With the rising cost of hardware, you are spending so much more money to achieve what a much cheaper console can do.
English

@idonotexistelol @Huddyfuddy Like buying a 1300 oled vs a 600 qled. Both do the literal same thing, but you want the better experience. Yet i would bet majority of ps5 pro owners use an oled. You want to get the most out of your setup, so you pay more for the best. Yet thats only frowned upon with pc
English

@baltibirds20 @idonotexistelol I mean in a lot of cases PC gamers are paying 3-4x the amount of money for a marginally better experience than modern consoles (if we are considering fps and graphic fidelity)
The real value comes from the customization options on a PC vs console
English

@Huddyfuddy @idonotexistelol I assume hes referring to people clowning pc users for spending all this money for a pc when then can just get a console that does the same thing but for cheaper.
English

@JazzLikesToGame Scarcity makes everything better. We would only get maybe 3 games a year. It didn’t matter what that game was, I was going to play tf out of it and have a great time.
English

oof.
The reality is, a lot of switch fans are collectors, the keycards aren't collectible, people are losing interest in the hardware.
The slow death of Physical Media is one of the main reasons I moved to steam as my main platform.

Not surprising. Kids don’t play JRPGs

77% of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth players in the US were aged 30 or over according to data from Circana! • 62% were aged 35 or older via Mat Piscatella
English

@ChristophRPG I just restarted my play-though after a year break. It really is nearly perfect. Should be everyone’s first JRPG
English

@theWellRedMage @aBigCoffee @Genki_JPN Ha true. I just think that alot of the frustration comes from people not being to comprehend HOW a company could fuck up that bad.
English

@Huddyfuddy @aBigCoffee @Genki_JPN That said, if we can't share an opinion on where a mega corp is going wrong in a public space... we may be doomed as a species.
English

Yoshi-P says it has become harder for younger people to engage with the Final Fantasy series because the release intervals for new titles have gotten longer!
"I'm 53 now, and I've been playing since Final Fantasy 1 in real time. But for younger generations – people who grew up naturally accustomed to action-based combat and online competitive play – the recent entries in the series may have been harder to engage with.
Part of that is simply because I'm sorry to say... the release intervals for new titles have gotten longer, so some players haven't really had the chance to connect with the series the way older fans did."

English

@theWellRedMage @aBigCoffee @Genki_JPN Yep exactly my point haha. Generally, fans will condemn a company like SS for making seemly extremely tone deaf and stupid decisions. Its much more complicated than making the right decisions. We can be sad, upset, or disappointed, but its hardly fair to tell them what to do.
English

@Huddyfuddy @aBigCoffee @Genki_JPN I think that goes without saying. Look, nobody here is going to solve the problems of a corporation we don't even work for, right? Yet, we're all providing our opinions on a direction they could consider, considering XYZ isn't working for them now.
English

@theWellRedMage @aBigCoffee @Genki_JPN Absolutely not an excuse. Just an observation from a fan. Its more complicated than just "do better". Its an extremely politically charged environment.
English

@Huddyfuddy @aBigCoffee @Genki_JPN I get that. I hope we wouldn't apply that as an excuse for SQEX to just keep doing what it's doing? No argument that steering the course of FF is hard, but it seems clear the current course hasn't been beneficial for them.
English

@theWellRedMage @aBigCoffee @Genki_JPN As someone who has worked in a corporate environment, it is a miracle that anything gets done at all tbh. Projects are always so disorganized, fragmented, and chaotic. Getting a specific thing done is like trying to steer a tornado.
English

@Huddyfuddy @aBigCoffee @Genki_JPN Step one would be not alienating older games lol
More seriously, it would be building a long-term strategy that studies and upholds what made FF so dominating in the past and apply it in a way that captures multiple age ranges. That's the job of directors and suits.
