@anon_opin Actually don’t buy this. Many European city centres long ago killed by bigger, more convenient out of town shopping centres. But the cities have then developed into lovely, car free people centred places. Coffee shops. Street food. And shops people go to look at beautiful things.

Your high street is a ghost town because you switched to online shopping, not the other way round. This is all your fault, remember that.

Tomorrow 6 January the main rate of national insurance is cut from 12% to 10%, its lowest for over twenty years. People earning £50,270 or more will save £754 a year, so be £62 a month better off. People working 25 hours on minimum wage will save 38p a week. Plus ça change.

The east side of Above Bar was rebuilt by 1954. The street was pedestrianised in 1971. So what year would you think?

@laura_laker Bit of an odd question… where I live I *know* how to get around. Been doing it for decades. But when out of my comfort zone I study Open Cycle Map carefully for local approved routes and also consult a route finder (currently Komoot)

Keen cyclists of twitter what do you think? 🤔 I had my 6th crash on my bike this week. Am I a rubbish cyclist or is crashing just part of what happens when you ride your bike a lot. I mainly ride on the road, do about 4.5k km a year since 2012. 🚴‍♂️🤕

@grahamhrtn Of course there have been hundreds of minor scrapes. Hardly a journey goes by without some close pass, left hook or “SMIDSY”. But I seem to have mostly avoided injury🤞. Never wear a helmet.

@grahamhrtn Gosh. That’s a lot. I suspect that you must ride a lot faster than me! Bike has been my main method of transport all my life and I have not had a car for the last 15 years. I have had one fall off and been hit once. (In which I have actually been injured)
