I don’t see what’s so bad about this. They come here illegally and take advantage of everything in this country and we are supposed to be mad when Americans take back some of that and send them back to where they came from? They’ll just come right back within 3 months of being deported. Nbd

Homeowner waits until construction job is nearly done—then calls ICE on 6 of her own workers. Woman even provides the ladder used by agent to detain men—who she owes $10,000 for 3 day job. Agents even left behind the workers' van with doors wide open—filled with thousands of dollars worth of tools. The arrest was broadcast live for about 30 minutes by a co-worker—identified as Bryan Polanco. "Seeing it is not the same as experiencing it," he explains. "I’ve seen many videos, and sadly today I had to experience it." At the end of the video he gets the woman who called ICE on camera: "It is the same woman. Tidying up the house, and still with hatred in her heart." The incident occurred in Cambridge, Maryland.

@GunkLivin @RealEmirHan The whole point of the novel the film is based off of, and this ending, is that they aren’t simple, they aren’t mindless zombie creatures - simplifying isn’t always good. I finished asoiaf six years ago and have been trying to find a series that hits as strong. Short is answer is you can't. Long answer is that you can find books that appeal to certain traits and themes that make asoiaf so special. Below is a list of what I've read

Lords paramount is a title give to the Tullys, Tyrells, and Baratheons bc they weren’t kings in their own right by the conquest but there is no title for the others to differentiate from other lords so I’ve been thinking however lords palatine is the best I’ve thought of lol

I know that in the lore Dunk's shield isn't supposed to follow the rules of Westerosi heraldry because of Brienne's comment when she sees it, but I still think the painterly look of the shield in the show was overdone when you compare it to what trees looked like in medieval paintings. And to critique GRRM himself, it's bizarre that in a world like Westeros where there are standards for heraldry (even if the rules are more loose) that no one comments on how Dunk's shield deviates from these standards. If Brienne noticed that the shield looked more like a painting, then why doesn't anyone else at least comment on the fact that there's a fake knight with a weird-looking shield? I'm hoping someone can explain that to me. Heraldry is a very unique artform so when you strip it of the aesthetic that makes "heraldry" unique then it's offsetting to the eye. Just like modern flags, heraldry uses flat tinctures and symbols with simple design to be easily distinguishable. Here are some surviving examples of medieval shields with the heraldry still on them. I think if HBO looked at these and took them seriously then the beauty of the show would be majorly augmented. That goes for all the heraldry in GRRMs world whenever it's shown on screen.

@BESERKIRE @dostoevesque This is crazy. Sanderson's characters feel like they were written for middle school readers. The dialogue between Shallan and Adolin is groan inducing. He's closer to Christopher Paolini than anyone else mentioned here.

No disrespect to George RR Martin, but if we're talking about the greatest fantasy authors right now, it has to be Steven Erikson and Robin Hobb. Not only are both exceptionally talented writers, but they also had the vision to plan their epic sagas and the discipline to see them through to completion. One crafted a history, magic system, and pantheon of gods with incredible depth, while the other built her legacy on an intense focus on a single, deeply flawed, and achingly real character. Malazan and Realm of the Elderlings are two epic series one can confidently invest their time in because they have a conclusion.
