@WeirdBristol Didn’t William Penn live in Frenchay and remortgaged his estate there to put down the money on Pennsylvania in America ?

This suit of armour which hangs high on a wall of St Mary Redcliffe was made for the Bristol born admiral Sir William Penn (1621-1670). His son (also called William Penn) founded a colony in America which would go on to become the state of Pennsylvania, which was named after him.

Five nights at the Hilton and a booking service. The MP for Clacton travelled to the US to support Donald Trump. So why hasn’t he declared the donations that paid for his stay? goodlaw.social/ps08

FEARGAL'S FRIDAYS: After a brief and it would now appear rather minor respite on the River Wye last week it's back to business as usual with the River Don in Yorkshire and it's not good, it's really not good. At this point we are truly struggling to find a single river that isn't polluted.
LBC@LBC

“Look at the state of that river…" @Feargal_Sharkey is far from impressed with the River Don, which measures ‘off-the-scale’ for toxins.

How much do you know about the IEA? In the media a lot? Inspired Truss & Kwarteng’s disastrous mini-budget? Right-wing? And... a registered charity? The Charity Commission is now reviewing whether the IEA’s activities have breached charity law. goodlaw.social/iq3c

When this building (situated outside the Galleries) was completed in 1701, it was one of the first brick buildings built in Bristol. The Merchant Taylor’s Almshouse was built as a charitable venture and was intended to house nine people who may otherwise have been homeless.
