In coordination with our airline partners, we’re taking ACTION to bring relief to Spirit customers and its workforce.
From capped ticket prices for flyers who need to rebook to employees looking for job opportunities, there’s a lot of information you should be aware of.
Here’s the latest ⬇️
CAPPED TICKET PRICES
United, Delta, JetBlue, & Southwest are all capping ticket prices specifically for Spirit customers who now need to rebook cancelled flights.
To access these special prices, individuals will need to provide at a minimum a Spirit flight confirmation number and proof of payment.
Please refer to each individual airlines website for additional specifics.
REDUCED FARES
For any consumers worried about higher prices, American Airlines and Delta Air Lines are offering reduced fares on high-volume Spirit routes. Allegiant has also committed to freezing fare prices across routes that overlap with Spirit. To support impacted travelers, Frontier is offering up to 50% off base fares across its network until May 10.
EMPLOYEE SUPPORT
Most major U.S. carriers are extending travel pass benefits and spare jump seats to Spirit pilots, flight attendants, and other employees who need to return home. They have also offered Spirit team members preferential employment interviews to ensure they jump the queue.
Both American Airlines and United are creating microsites for Spirit employees looking to continue a career in aviation.
Refresher on Compensation Rules:
Per Spirit — the airline will automatically process refunds for any flight purchased through via credit card or debit card.
Ticket holders can also:
1. Contact your credit card company: If you purchased your ticket with a credit card, you may be protected under the Fair Credit Billing Act. Contact your issuer to request a "chargeback" for services not rendered.
2. Check your travel insurance: If you have travel insurance, contact your provider to see if your policy covers “insolvency” or “service cessation.”
3. File a bankruptcy claim: You may file a formal "proof of claim" with the bankruptcy court. Please note that this process can take time and may only result in a partial refund.

Only one chance in this lifetime…
Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him.
I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.

@SamaHoole Quit going to the doctor .. he/she is slowly killing you !
English

The year is 1950. Your doctor lights a cigarette and tells you smoking is fine. He read it in a study. He is telling the truth about having read it. He does not know, or is not saying, that the study was funded by the tobacco industry.
The year is 1958. Your doctor tells you to eat less fat. The evidence is contested. The contestation is not in the public messaging. The food industry has been helpful in clarifying which findings deserve attention. Some researchers who published contradictory data have been quietly defunded. Ancel Keys is on the cover of Time magazine.
The year is 1962. Your doctor prescribes thalidomide to your pregnant wife for morning sickness. It has been approved. The FDA gave it the green light in Europe. Twelve thousand children will be born with severe limb malformations before anyone in an official capacity acknowledges the problem. The families are told the drug was safe. The drug was approved. Both of these things remain true.
The year is 1972. Your doctor prescribes Valium. Britain is in the grip of a benzodiazepine wave that will last two decades. The dependency risk is known internally. It is not shared. Your doctor is not lying to you. He was not told either.
The year is 1999. Your doctor prescribes Vioxx for your arthritis. It is newer than ibuprofen, well-tolerated, and Merck has a study showing it works. Merck also has internal data suggesting it roughly doubles the risk of heart attack. This data will not reach your doctor for four more years. Fifty thousand people are estimated to have died in the interim. Merck eventually settles for 4.85 billion dollars. No criminal charges are brought.
The year is 2002. Your doctor prescribes OxyContin. Purdue Pharma trained its sales representatives to tell doctors the addiction risk was less than one percent. That figure came from a letter, not a study. The letter was about patients with terminal cancer on short-term doses in hospital settings. Your doctor is a GP with a patient who has a bad back. Nobody draws a distinction. Nobody is required to.
The year is 2008. Your doctor checks your cholesterol. Your LDL is elevated. You are prescribed a statin. Nobody mentions that the number needed to treat for primary prevention is approximately 250. Nobody mentions that the muscle deterioration you'll notice over the next two years is listed as a rare side effect rather than a documented pattern affecting a meaningful percentage of patients. The trial that informed the prescription was funded by the manufacturer.
Now it is today.
Your doctor has new guidelines. New studies. New consensus.
He is confident.
He has always been confident.
The confidence has never been the problem.
The confidence is, in fact, precisely the problem.

The Pentagon is preparing for weeks of ground operations in Iran, though potential raids would stop short of an invasion. Trump is weighing an operation to extract about 1,000 pounds of uranium from Iran. WaPo, BBG
President Donald Trump said that Iran “gave” the US most of the 15 demands it issued to Tehran to end the war, even as it remains unclear whether either side is negotiating. Publicly, Iran has rejected the US’s 15-point list of ceasefire terms delivered by the Trump administration via intermediaries in Pakistan, and has countered with five conditions of its own — including maintaining sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz. BBG
Oil climbed, with Brent heading for a record monthly gain, as renewed Middle East strikes and a buildup of US troops heightened concerns. The Iran-backed Houthis launched ballistic missiles at Israel over the weekend. Donald Trump said he’s ready to make a deal with Tehran, but he also told the FT he wants to “take the oil” in Iran. Iran’s control of Hormuz is increasing — 80% of tankers exiting the strait have Tehran’s nod. BBG
Aluminum jumped as Iran’s weekend strikes on smelters in Abu Dhabi and Bahrain threatened a supply crisis. And the energy industry is warning that the biggest supply shock in history is only just beginning. BBG
US Treasury is to meet with domestic and international insurance regulators in coming weeks to discuss recent developments in private credit markets.
The yen and the rupee rose on Monday as Japan stepped up its verbal intervention and India forced banks to unwind positions in the foreign exchange markets. The yen strengthened by 0.4 per cent against the US dollar to trade close to ¥159.7. The rupee jumped at the open, climbing more than 1.4 per cent, but gave up almost all of its gains to trade around 94.6 to the dollar. FT

Investors who specialize in scooping up distressed assets at bargain prices have identified a downturn in private credit as their best opportunity since the 2008 financial crisis. These funds, which typically invest in companies with bad balance sheets but viable underlying businesses, have been largely sidelined for a decade as markets surged but are now betting on making money from strains in private credit. FT
The Senate Banking Committee is planning to hold its hearing on the nomination of Kevin Warsh as chair of the Federal Reserve as soon as the week of April 13. Political resistance has held up Warsh’s nomination in the Senate, with Fed Chair Jerome Powell remaining in place even as President Donald Trump presses for a successor willing to cut interest rates faster. Some signs of capitulation re starting to emerge in Goldman's PB data. Last week HFs net sold US equities for a 6th straight week and at the fastest pace since Apr ‘25 (-1.6 SDs 1-year), driven by short-and-long sales in Single Stocks and to a lesser extent short sales in Macro Products. On a trailing 6-week basis, the recent US net selling by hedge funds is the 3rd largest over the past decade and starting to approach the levels seen in Apr-May ’20 during Covid and (to a lesser extent) into Liberation Day. Silver Comex Futures update
Open interest continues to collapse, now at 117,879 contracts vs a month ago at 161,943 contracts.
Higher margin, less liquidity, and better depth on the OTC markets is attracting business away from the exchange.
High frequency traders may have broke the integrity of the exchange markets by using derivative, options, and underlying physical to game the system for short term greed.
The lack of depth and increased costs on the Comex may be shifting hedgers and other liquidity providers to seek quotes in the OTC market where orders can be filled at one price.
What does this mean for physical silver? Lack of trust directs buyers to buy what they can hold. As prices rise, the industry may have less ability to hedge and weaker balance sheet positioning to settle trades when sellers come in. This adds immense risk to spreads and possibly profiteering by large retail dealers at the cost of the consumer (big discounts to sell back and big premiums to purchase). I have been warning about these risks for years.
Those who store at depositories owned by dealers that are giving away very low storage fees to attract the buyer, may actually be trapping their customer into a closed program where the customer is forced to take big discounts to sell their metals and/or wait extensive time frames to get their money back.
The storage side of the equation needs to be examined separately from the purchase itself. Look for a company or program that does not have a conflict of interest.
I could not find a single one out there, and that is the reason I started my own depository in 2008. IMO, the landscape has not changed but only gotten worse.
Be careful out there.
