@Suthungent All good points. I suppose, probably a pipe dream for most... Including me. More effort than it's worth unless it's your forever home. Which this is definitely not my forever home. But fun to dream about 😂

@HuntFishTravel Reinforcing walls, doors, windows, door frames. That isn’t a small, nor would it be a cheap, project. Cost, effort, accessibility. To me, would be the deciding factor of which way to go. But ultimately, what YOU want is what you should do.

What do you think would be the pros or cons? Is this something you've ever thought about or dreamed about? Thinking about turning a spare bedroom into a gun vault type of a room. I was looking at posts, ideas, and forums. I found a lot of naysayers, talking about how just putting a couple gun safes in the room would be better, because they're fireproof, because you'd have to reinforce the walls, you'd have to buy a 6,000 lb door for security, and it would have to be locked all the time, etc etc. That argument just didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. My guns aren't in a fireproof safe now, they're literally in the basement. Or in an oak gun cabinet. Growing up, my dad was a gunsmith, he had two kids in the house and we knew not to go down and mess with the guns. Oh, and did I mention that I don't have children so that's not even an issue in my home. By the time I would purchase three or four large gun safes, I could remodel a small 10x11 spare bedroom into one serious, reinforced gun vault. I'd probably keep the bulk of my ammo in the basement with all the reloading equipment. And I don't really work on my guns too much, the workbench is also in the basement which is used for much more than just working on my rifles. It was just an interesting rabbit hole to go down.

Today was one of the hardest days in 12 months. When I lost Champ, I lost my anchor. And I have been adrift ever since. For the first time in my life I called the veterans crisis line and basically told them I just don't have the tools in my toolbox to navigate life at the moment. Dear friend and fellow veteran Donnie, noticed that I was struggling, and he reached out to me, he suggested that I look into some of the equine therapy programs that the VA offers. It took my new therapist at the VA about 6 months to convince me to enroll in the program and give it a shot. Even with Aaron's gentle support, my nervous system has been clamoring all day as I led up to this first session at MKE Urban Stables. On a scale from 1-10, going in... my anxiety was at about a 25. Stepping out after 90 minutes, my anxiety is legitimately 0. Horse owners will understand the quiet calm these beautiful creatures lend to you. And it was like the Clydesdale they're using for our group understood his assignment better than I could ever have imagined. Maybe next week I'll be able to actually step near the Percherons the MPD Mounted Patrol Foundation use. The one in the ties looked at me like he was confused that I wasn't coming over to say hello. We shall see. If you are a veteran, please know that there are so many programs out there at your disposal, even extremely unique ones that would fit any situation. 🐎🙏🇺🇸
