23 years ago today I was baptized. The disappointing thing about the election for me is that as a kid "Christians" said Bill shouldn't be president because of what he did. Those same "Christans" elected a cheating child rapist as their president. My church taught me better.

@BCB_PharmD I'll die on the hill that a lot of white young men feel isolated and gravitated to where they felt accepted. That was a huge part of the republican playbook and it worked.

Tempting as it is to blame Gen Z, just as many of the disaffected "young men" that swung this election are Millennials. Same for many other groups. This should be a call to reflect on what positions you can moderate towards center & pay attention to who feels left out and why

Watching Gen Z men veer right hits different for Millennials. We lived through Columbine, 9/11, the Iraq War, 2008 crash, 2016 election, covid, abortion bans, & now this. We watched institutions repeatedly fail us while older generations selfishly protected the status quo. 🧵1/

When you grow up seeing messaging directed at every demographic but your own you feel forgotten. Blaming "white men" makes people defensive as an emotional reaction. Most people decide with emotion rather than well researched logic. Republicans knew this and pounced on it.

This is why less desirable candidates get the nomination in the first place. 10 candidates with 2-4 very close so the outlier makes it through.

Problem is, one of the way to exit that is with ranked choice voting, which was on the ballot in several states. To my knowledge, it was defeated in all cases, and one state appeared to have outright banned it. We ain't getting away from this rollercoaster anytime soon.
