@HurdleTim I think we are arguing distinctly at the margins here. People have all sorts of brief experiences in the careers but no one will seriously argue that Christian has a strong background for the new role He is a smart guy and may yet do it well, but there is a lot to learn.

With even core inflation now shooting through the top of the target range, we have a Monetary Policy Committee with (a) a Governor who has made hardly any serious speeches in 4 yrs, (b) a new macro deputy, who seems to know nothing about macro or mon pol, (c) a chief economist...

@MHReddell You said he had “no background in financial stab”. He literally worked the GFC on bank collapses and stabilizing markets.

@HurdleTim He had plenty of exposure to financial markets (incl in his role at Harbour) but not banking and insurance regulation etc. it is a major regulatory role and the RB now has no one senior with expertise/experience in the area.
