Big move! 🚀 After an amazing journey at POSTECH, the Hwang Group has officially landed at KAIST as of March 2026. @KAIST_Chem New lab, new energy, and plenty of exciting science ahead—can’t wait to see what this next chapter brings. Stay tuned 👀

Pleased to see this work finally out in JACS @J_A_C_S 🎂🎉 On a porphyrin platform, localized cations turn out to be a powerful handle for tuning activity–selectivity in molecular ORR. Go take a look 👀 🔗 pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja…

After not visiting other universities for nearly two years….. I had a great time discussing science and presenting my group’s work at ⁦⁦@CPostech⁩ today. Thanks ⁦@HwangGroup⁩ for hosting me in Pohang - the Korean BBQ was the perfect finish!

@ConradGoodwin @CPostech Yes! @ConradGoodwin We used a heat gun to accomplish the hot filtration and the transfer to a vial (very carefully!). We knew this trick works really well with potassium due to its low mp (mp=63°C), but this was our first time trying with sodium (mp =98°C) and it worked!

@HwangGroup @CPostech Did you just melt that sodium, and hot-filter it through a frit? If so that’s really clever and nicer than scraping it!

Happy to share our latest, a perspective in @ChemicalScience on heterocycle synthesis with early- and mid-transition metals! Congrats to the team for putting in a lot of hard pandemic work. We learned a lot writing this! pubs.rsc.org/en/content/art…

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could snap together an alkene and an amine to make an aziridine? Now you can! Check out our new electrochemical dication pool strategy to synthesize diverse N-alkyl aziridines by coupling amines and alkenes. Read now in @nature rdcu.be/cm0tV

Don't store sodium azide waste in a former diethyl ether aluminum bottle. Thankfully no one was hurt and nothing was damaged but this was quite an alarming bang. @Chemjobber

Sodium azide is a nasty yet common chemical reagent. BUT DO NOT use metallic spatula when weighing 💥, use plastic tea spoon for instance. DO NOT use in dichloromethane 💥. Avoud any acidic media to prévention HN3 as a neurotoxic gas 💀☠. #SafetyFirst

When my product is so brightly colored that I can follow it on the column without using UV/Stains... Love it! 😍 Loading evenly on a alumina column seems more difficult than loading on a silica column...Looking for protips for alumina loading... #RealTimeChem @CPostech
