(Imagined) European validation of American low culture is like crack cocaine to them, it seems. At first, I found it baffling how Red Americans actually seem to feel nationalistic pride of hamburgers, gas stations and cars rather than their national heroes, achievements etc...

This Norwegian kid visiting the US for the World Cup is straight-up floored by In-N-Out. 😂 From struggling through the order (“three burgers… only bread and meat!”) to devouring it and calling it “Delicious!” — pure joy. Europeans come here and realize America’s high-quality life isn’t a myth. Best burgers, friendliest service, and freedom fries. 🇺🇸🍔

@_batman24 @ceymk1 Freedom itself isn't a virtue. Enshrining freedom isn't about everyone doing whatever they want, but rather ensuring people are able to pursue virtue and the good. That's one reason humility is important -- "good" might not be what we want or expect.

The oversaturation of "sex sells" from 90's into the 00's created a large subset of millennials that swung hard in the opposite direction, believing that any shred of sexual attractiveness would be committing the perceived sins of the old times. These are people who grew up in a time when virtually every video game had comical jiggle physics; you were inundated with Girls Gone Wild commercials if you stayed up late enough; MTV was teetering on softcore porn at any given moment; the most popular show on network TV for years was "big breasted lifeguards run on the beach in slow motion;" they were using tits to advertise fast food and web hosting; etc. etc. etc. When publishers started releasing stuff like BMX XXX, a lot of millennials started wondering if things had gone too far, making them prime targets to be shamed by homely women who'd been waiting for this moment all their lives. Standards were very lax back then, and many people overindulged. Now they've become the sex appeal equivalent of the former drug addict who overcompensates with their new religion.

@_batman24 @ceymk1 WRONG. He is legally American under 8 U.S.C. 1401(f) (Section 301(f). Any child discovered under the age of 5 with unknown parents is conclusively and legally presumed American. He's a rural farm boy raised with traditional values. Who said anything about hating gay people?
