@docmilanfar One issue is that nowadays, you have to fight to get your workshop accepted, hence researchers choose speakers from the same pool out of fear of being rejected. Easy fix: when selecting workshops, chairs should prioritize ones with interesting / surprising / junior keynotes.

If we can't get beyond the same dozen people giving all the keynotes year after year, what we're saying is that there aren't enough talented people doing interesting work - and you all *know* that's not true.

Seriously, if you’re giving that many Keynote talks, there is (a) something wrong with the system that encourages this; and (b) shame on you for accepting so many invitations and not passing down the honor to a few more deserving people.

@daniel_serman Fairness is a causal notion. The reason we have so much confusion in the discussion about what is and what is not "fair" is that our lawyers, philosophers, ML folks and other guardians of justice have not been trained to communicate in a language where fairness can be defined.
